Amazon is selling a Prisoner of Azkaban poster. One of the pictures features Harry and what appears to beLupin (or Black) in animal form.

You know, I'm thinking that a children's movie made from a series of British novels isn't going to be very bish in and of itself. The HP fandom just needs to let go of any hopes for canon bishery, write and illustrate their own bishounen smut like the rest of us, and move on.

Because good looking people and characters are the ONLY elements in a good movie. It's not like the plot is important or anything.

Please. I don't care if they choose the Elephant Man to play Remus and/or Sirius I'm still going to be first in line when the movie comes out. I'm true to my geeky urges.

Uh...I can be as wanky as the next R/S shipper, but what the WTF is this? I don't give a flip about the bish-factor, but I'd like to express my disappointment that Werewolf!Remus looks utterly underwhelming in every respect. I'm supposed to think that bloody thing is terrifying? I'm sorry, but my 14-year-old cat could take that out.

Dude, I kinda gotta agree on the "What the fuck is THAT?!" side. o.O Neither Lupin nor Black's animal forms are supposed to look like something out of a Linkin Park video... it states pretty plainly in almost every book he's in that Sirius' dog form looks like a regular dog, and in Order, it's stated that the differences between a werewolf and a regular wolf are pretty subtle, coming down to muzzle shape and stuff like that.
That's... just scary. And ugly. And ew.
It has nothing to do with fangirling, it has more to do with being someone who pays attention and... wonders why this new director is raping my fandom. x.x;;;

As much as I dislike David Thewlis as Lupin (I have a an unexplainable hatred for all tiny mustaches), I don't get why people continue to throw such fits over it. They're kids movies - people are going to try and make them cartoony and surreal, and the new director is going to try and make it very clear that he's not the old director. Directors have issues with art and originality, and will go to great lengths to stand out, even if it means making their film look like ass. And that's showbiz, kid.

Ehhh, definitly not how I would envision the werewolf, but then, the best way I can describe how I would envision a werewolf is "like a regular wolf, but snarlier", so I won't complain about that.

And the mustache still bothers me (>_<), but I have no other objections to Thewlis, and heck, I'm squee-y over the brief hint of the dementor in the trailer, so I'm prepared to be a bit forgiving. And then there's the simple fact that if the movie turns out disappointing, I'll just go home and reread the book and a lot of smutfics and take comfort in that. Not worth getting wanky over.

The more I look at it, the more I'm sure it's supposed to be Remus mid-transformation. Hence the lack of tail, human-like look in the eyes, scant hair... Doesn't it look like a really skinny human on all fours, with transformed ears and snout? Just a thought.

1) I like the picture, actually. I think the werewolf looks eerily beautiful, in a very creepy, scary, hairless way.

Guh ... I seem to be in the vast minority who actually really LIKES the werewolf. I think it looks really really neat, and far creepier and more interesting than I previously would have given credit for.

Am I the only one who is getting totally sick of all the fans squealing about boycotting the movie or saying "This is not MY Hermione" or "This is not MY Lupin." There is nowhere in the books that say that Remus is heroin-chic thin, and the same goes for Sirius. I want to strangle people every time I see protests like that. And David Thewlis is a much better actor than Ewan McGregor, goddamnit. But I suppose it's hard to rent any of his movies when you're twelve.

I wonder if it has occurred to any of the critics that the werewolf in that picture might not be a finished, polished example of the CGI that will be in the movie, or might be the wolf in the process of transformation? Its paws look an awful lot like hands, and it could be the fully transformed wolf, but my first thought was that it might not be.

That post was actually why I left that comm. I've just had enough of people and their 12-year-old attitudes about this movie. You CANNOT go to a HP site right now without finding some wankage about the movie.

I won't make my full comments on what I think about such people, because I already wrote a massive rant in my LJ.

I do agree that doesn't look like either Padfoot or Moony, but it still scares the bejeezus out of me, and JKR DID have to approve it, you know.

My first thought after seeing the pic was "oh my god, they made a Gollum!" I guess we know what Gollum's animagi form would be. I have always imagined werewolves as hairy creatures, but I guess it makes sense that they look less like wolves and more like a weird hybrid... can't remember how they were described in the books.

Anyway, even if Moony was hairy, he wouldn't be cute, so I don't see what the big deal is. Werewolves are supposed to be scary... and that creature surely creeps me out.
