My fandom's wank-fu is best!
Remember this X-Files wank, in which we learned that those wacky Havenites were planning an ad in the Hollywood Reporter to show fan support for a second X-Files movie? Sure you do! While they had ad layouts all planned and a website, they were having a bit of trouble reaching their $3000 goal (maybe because they were the only fans who knew about it? I certainly haven't seen it advertised anywhere else).

But all that's changed! Because in THE HOLY MOMENT IN XF FANS HISTORY, an Angel of Mercy named Endgame stepped in and has contributed over $1,800(!) to the cause. You need to click the link to witness the outpouring of asskissing gratitude from the Spoilers Folder denizens, in multiple fonts, colors, and with a lot a lot a lot of smilies!

I particularly like this comment from beckyc: "This ad and fan effort should tell Fox something!!" Yeah, that the Buffy/Angel shippers aren't the only ones willing to throw cash away on useless ads.

HorsePirateX: "Silver screen here we come, again!" As if an ad is all that's needed to greenlight a movie.

k-mom brings it all home: "Just think... I know there are many of us on Haven who would have liked to contribute to this, but because of various and sundry reasons (ours: so deep in debt our ears hurt, others: students, fixed incomes, health care debt) could not even put in their widow's mite. Here one VERY generous person has stepped up and made this possible. Completely amazing.

Now fast forward... to a time when you have plenty to give... whether it's money, time, food, clothing, skills, whatever. And you see a need. Remember EndGame and say, "I'll step up and give this time."

I simply cannot WAIT to see the ad AND see the reaction!

Yeah. When you have plenty to give make sure you give it to an AD. Fuck those charities, man! Screw the hungry and the homeless! Let's make sure WE GET TO SEE A MOVIE!

$1,800.00, people. $1,800.00. I just can't get over it. I mean, hey, spend your money on what you want, but let's not pretend it's a noble cause, okay?

(Also of interest is karcane's I am mad RANT (in which she's likened to Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and the Wright Brothers). While she's not naming names, it seems she discovered the original wank. We suck the fun and goodness out of everything in this world. *g*)
