More from the ever-wanky Friends of Josh Groban messageboard! I dunno if this is wank, precisely, but it made me giggle a bit. 'rubberducky113' wants everybody to know that she is giving up Josh for Lent:

rubberducky113: In honor of what Christ did for all of us (thanks to the viewing of "The Passion" 3 times) I have prepared myself to go without one of the things that I love the most -Josh Groban's music. For 40 days and 40 nights I will not be able to listen to that beautiful voice! I figured that if Christ died for me, I should do this for him. It won't be easy, so everytime you hear his wonderful voice, think of me and love his golden for while I cannot! Am I crazy or what?

JGro37: good luck... ive been thinking about it, cause i know youre supposed to give up something you love the most... and i know im a little late, but i think i might follow suit...
*sob* i just dont know! i shall ponder it over night before i lock away my cd's

rubberducky113: Oh, believe me, it's going to be the toughest thing I have ever done, and it was so depressing putting my beloved CD's into their cases! They haven't been in there since I recieved them! How will I do this? I guess I will just have to use my memory of his voice and concert to get me through. JOSH, I miss you already!

brokenangel: hmmmm. interesting perspective, my view is just to dedicate my life to Christ, and vow that if the time ever comes, I will die for Christ.

titancia: Wow, good luck!! I don't think I could give up music...I'm giving up candy and soda. Which, for me, I think would be as difficult as if I gave up Josh.

rubberducky113: I know it sounds wierd to do this, and not to start anything, but I feel that if Christ gave up something for us (his life) then I should (not meaning everyone should, just me) give up something for him for a while. That thing is Josh, and he is my pride and joy on a daily basis, and since I didn't want to take the easy way out (giving up something that is pointless) I decided to give up the most difficult thing I could. Again, this is MY personal choice, and if someone feels that they can show his/her love in a better way, then go for it! I respect that decision ( and am jealous that he/she still gets to hear Josh, but that's okay).

The website claims: Josh' fans are one of a kind. Oh, yeah.

And we wonder why people in third world countries hate our fat, pampered butts?

Great, I just made myself feel guilty. I'm giving up junk food for Lent because I gained a few pounds.

*Dies for JG Fandom's sins*

This is yet another reason not to see The Passion, it inspires the wankiest wank wank ever wanked.

I'm Jewish so I wouldn't know, but do all you Christians think Jesus would be happy with such an incredible and heartfelt sacrifice?

That's why I quit giving up stuff for Lent (before I just quit Christianity altogether). I've just never thought an omnibenevolent God would want anyone to make themselves unhappy for his sake.

Of course not. Jesus wants you to give up something important for Lent. Like Fandom_Wank, for example.

So Josh Groban may not be like Jesus, in a way, but his fans think they are.

Makes me giggle.
Mind you, I can't really say anything as one of my friends gave up LOTR for Lent. Of course, this included everything, including injokes (HUGO WEAVING!...right.), pictures, et all.

We're all taking bets on when she cracks >:)

Will I go to Hell if I give up religion for Lent?

Oh silly me, I'm already going to Hell.

I did that some time back in grade school. I haven't gone back since. Lent helped me kick that nasty communion habit, and it can help you too!

Well, considering her devotion is apparently due to seeing a movie...you know it's genuine and pure!

Aww hell. My family always gives stuff up for Lent, but the only thing I own that I care about that much is Armand the PC, and just going 4 days without him would drive me batty, much less 40.

I guess I should point this out at them: "Haha! I love a computer more than you love Josh Groban!"

It will be very difficult for me.

Since, y'know, I've never listened to his music. :P

The big irony being that "giving things up for Lent" has become almost totally divorced from repentance it's supposed to stand for
Time was, when people *did* things for their acts of repentance, volunatary work, charity, like feeding the hungy, building churches, etc. Now we just "give stuff up."

And everyone forgets that Lent doesn't happen on Sundays..

I think the best part of this is that Josh Groban only has about three minutes of fame left, and by the time Lent is over, he will be too. In fact, I doubt she'll remember she's given him up after a couple of weeks.

Oooh, how embarassing, I'm in this one!! lol!
In my defense, though, that was during a "spurt" I had.
Yes, weirdo me goes through spurts when I listen to music. I was still high on the fact that I'd met him back in January (I promise I wasn't a crazed fan, just nervous. First celebrity I met, and frankly, meeting ANYONE I don't know makes me nervous. Stupid shyness.) In any case, it was during a spurt where I was only in the mood to listen to Josh. I still do, but not every day. I just got over listening to Michelle Branch's "Hotel Paper" and the All American Rejects a gazillion times a day, and now I've been stuck on Michael Buble for the last couple days (but, his cd just came out yesterday and I don't have the first one yet, so I'm quite enjoying my new cd! :P)
