Gods! The things I find while looking for some FFX-2 International info!
So, I was looking for info on Final Fantasy X-2 Internationa/Last Mission and I found a topic that's basically speculation about who would be at the top of the Tower. It starts out being a pretty funny thread about who it might be, but

Here is where it all begins!

Arguments begin to form about whether or not there is a connection between Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy X-2 International. It seems that it's OFFICIAL that all three games ARE connected. But, people don't seem to believe that. Not that I blame them, BUT when I saw the proof(and it's there in the Ultamania Guide), I realized that it is true. Hey, I personally could live with that. BUT, it seems that some people just CAN'T.

[I find it funny how you fanboys just jump to conclusion]

"I find it more pathetic how someone can be so ignorant and starting calling people fanboys. Jump to conclusion? The story writer said they are, then they are. Any denials = Ignorant"

It's short, but a LOAD of fun and well...beware of SPOILERS.

Where is this Ultamania Guide? I can't find it.

Please tell me there's something at the top of the tower.

I've seen the guide on Ebay and at animebooks.com.

I'm more concerned about the Omega one. okay, all I want are more piccies of Baralai. Heh

There's no way I'm paying for the strategy guide to a game I don't even intend to play. Especially if the guide is also in Japanese. That would be just silly.

I heard none of the boys are in it. Including Brother, Buddy, and Shinra.

I thought that the Omega had pictures that no other book had. If there's no Baralai, I won't be all that interested. I just cared about the pictures.

Course I heard on the gamefaqs board that during LM, Baralai/Gippal/Nooj go on some sort of journey. I lost interest in FFX-2 International/Last Mission almost immedietly. (CRY)

Really? Mind filling me in on HOW? [I don't have the Ultimania guide and if it's Japanese I couldn't read it anyway.]

Now that I think about it those machina did like kinda familiar...

This would have a few spoilers, kind of.

It's something like, FFX-2/FFX is a prequel to FF7, because Shinra says something about maybe sometime in the future, they could harness the power of the farplane to use as an energy source.

Okay, so first parallel - Shinra + energy (FFX/X-2) -> Shinra Corps + Mako/Lifestream Energy.

Also, Spheres -> Materia, IIRC.

It's magical.

It also makes me sad because I was never a big fan of FF7. ^^;;

I liked FF7, but it's not among my highest favorites. So, when I saw this connection, I just about "meh".

I remember asking a question about the Final Fantasy games back in one of forums I used to visit in 2001. I asked how Odin could die in one game and be alive in another. Needless to say, one of my (now) friends put together a timeline in how the games fall into a certain order, and it actually makes some sense. In how each Final Fantasy game (and movie, from the looks of his timeline) fit together.

http://pub141.ezboard.com/froughneckramblingsfrm21.showMessageRange?topicID=151.topic&start=21&stop=40

It was rather interesting.

I'm not about to delve too far into that thread. For the amount of years I've played the FF series, I've never once finished the games. Ever.
I'm also oddly proud of that too. ^_^

I still don't understand why people would deny something that the creator himself would say. Guess that happens when you become such a deticated fan that you get ticked with the creator deviates from what you thought should happen.

Or something like that.

I guess that would explain why Brother looks like General Leo's son with Kefka's makeup habits...

I think [info]psychofangirl only meant that the FFX's and FF7 were connected according to the info she's been looking at, though, not the whole series. (I'll look at the link later, though. I can't imagine how you could connect every single one of them [then again, I'm one of the folks that always believed each FF to be its own separate story and mythos, with FFX-2 being the first to break that "tradition"], so I wanna see how your friend explains this.)

It fails to cover Legend of the Crystals, but that's already taken care of (200 years after FFV).

I want a Prettz icon.

They're connected? COOL!

I'm really out of the FF gaming world (due muchly to not owning a PS)

Is there a translation of the official statement? My japanese is sadly non-existant

I'm just saddened and disdainful that nobody has made the FFX-FFVII connection yet. Kimahri was SO Aeris just wearing a funny hat.

Yeah, but at least back then they didn't bother with sequels and follow-up movies and connecting everything...connecting VII and X just feels like, "OMG let's connect our two best selling games and then they'll luv us forever!!"

must be a midlife thing.

But they've been making games since the NES days. I think that's at least hitting menopause by now. ;)

Hey, sempai, since GameFAQs threads die after a while of no-repliage, maybe you should copy/paste a few more of the choicier excerpts of that. Then again, it's not that terrible a wank since it seems to have gotten nipped in the bud really fast, so... *shrug*

Still, maybe link the articles regarding the "proof" of connection (such as this, and that the interview in question is on page 736 of that Ultimania guide, at least according to what the board people say) or something?

Anyway, this is kinda amusing to know. Weird, but amusing - I was honestly wondering if what they were going to find at the top of the tower was going to be Jenova, heh...
