Monster's Ball
Does anyone remember Monster's Ball that awarded Halle Berry with an Academy Award for getting down and dirty with Billy Bob Thornton?
If you haven't seen it, this wank is going to spoil you a bit for the ending, so turn away now.

I saw the movie very recently and I was surprised that no PC minded people or institutions had attacked it as the gross pile of racism and misoginy it is.
To me, the film's bottom line is that the only thing a woman can do to be happy or even to survive in a world that has no mercy on her is to get herself a nice man to take care of her emotionally and financially. This is made worse by the racial issue: the non-white (let's leave on the side the fact that Halle Berry is black, or half-black, or whatever) woman finds no support at all in her family, or her friends, only on the White Man, and only if she adapts to his life and not the other way around.
And of course, apparently the only thing she has to offer in exchange of emotional and financial protection is sex.
Fifty percent of what follows has been deleted by the administrators, but this thread still contains these:
o-t-t-o reveals a certain kinship with caminante: I got upset watching Terminator 2 & 3 for similar reasons. Why should it take a big high-tech robot from the future to give white women what they need?

I'm black as well, but I truly DO wish that I was white. My people never produced a written language, we were slaves belonging to white men in the southern United States until 1865, we never got even with them, we never put up a fight against slavery, we were segregated from whites in the south until 1965, and yet we still remained in the country like we had no self-respect. We've never invented anything meaningful like the airplane, automobile, train, light bulb, personal computer, or telephone. There has never been a black equivalent of Shakespeare, Beethover, Bach, or Mozart. We still speak the language of the people that enslaved us. We think that athletic prowess and being cool is important, but we still have to go to the white power base to get what we want, and always will. All that we can seem to do is wear pants that don't fit, listen to violent music, call women "bitches," commit drive-by shootings, and sell drugs.
I know that this will seem to some of you like a white racist diatribe, but I'm an African-American male, and I consider my people to be the most race-obssessed, and therefore racist, people in the world. That's why I needed t respond to what shikihiv said about whites. He ignores their many accomplishments because he feels insecure when he compares himself to them. What a pathetic wretch he must be.
