Politics + Yû Yû Hakusho= WANK-TASTIC.
All righty...if you are NOT familiar with the YYH fandom, there happens to be a canon homosexual couple (Sensui/Itsuki...my OTP...I <3 them even if they ARE the antagonists!)...also there is a pretty popular site that bans m/m-ness from their archives because they DO NOT KNOW or DENY that the couple exists, and well, the guy who runs it thinks homosexuality is a disease XD. (The idea of "YYH is NOT GAY, dammit!" is starting to be a little pervasive...I think it's an over-reaction to screaming Kurama/Hiei fangirls myself.)

So "Melissa" (I know her via LJ) posts this comment:

er... question... what if its fanart based on the last ep of the sensui arc? is a pic of itsuki holding sensui considered 'homosexuality/bishie crap'?

Watch the wank that ensues when the site's owner, "Tim", answers her.

And I did NOT go hunting for this, it came to me^^.

Actually, in my Big Fat Japanese-Japanese Dictionary (TM), there are two definitions of "bishônen":

1. Handsome male youth.
2. Young homosexual.

(I'm not saying this is the end-all, be-all definition, but it's there.)

Also, the term "bishônen" truly got populized in the Japanese language with the publications of manga such as "Kaze to ki no uta" and "Toma no shinzou" which are pretty damn gay. So, there is a connection. Though not, in my opinion, an exclusive one.

I didn't know gay was a disease. I suppose if it really is contagious, then it must be, but gee, I trusted the APA when they took it off the books in the '60s. Just goes to show how deluded we pinko liberals can be, eh?

You know, it still really amuses me that people will get upset about Itsuki when you also have:
A corporate businessmen who wants to unleash demons on earth because it would be 'interesting'
A psychotic demon who kills things he loves... who is also going after another male.
A crossdressing demon (Although I doubt many people know this since it was waay censored)
And the doctor. Do I really need to say anything about the doctor?

This wank raises more questions than it answers.

Since when was yaoi a female? Why is stuff instantly funny when you add the word 'crap' on the end? How can I better quell my own desire to jump in and wank about people abusing people who don't like their own country? Do I really think penguins are so great that I want to marry one? If gay is disease, does that mean all the gay people at my anime club will eventually infect everyone there (at least the males won't scream like sissies every time the word 'Gravitation' is mentioned any more)? And why the HELL is the anti-Republican called 'Republicant'?

You know, I think that conservative asshats would come off as a lot more intelligent if the overwhelming response wasn't "OMG you disagree with me?! You must hate America! If you don't love it, leave it!" Same goes for liberals, of course ... I won't leave my own political "party" out of the bashing ... If your only argument is "Bush sucks because he's evil" you belong in the same deserted island with no food or water.

Don't get me wrong ... I love debating. And it's kind of fun to drive asshats into the ground because I know more political crap than they do. But these people .... I just give up hope, because you know the instant you start to destroy their uninformed opinions, they'll come back with "Why do you hate America?!" or "Have you forgotten about 9/11?!?!"

**headdesk** And Itsuki/Shinobu was my OTP back in my anime fandom days. I wrote one of the only pieces of fanfiction in existance about them. And now ... wank has destroyed my childhood. **whine** This deserves my special YYH icon, because it happens to involve the main point of this wank.

I am eternally amused by the slash vs. non-slash wank coming out of this fandom.

The mangaka that created YYH is also responsible for a manga (I have completely forgotten what it was called - I'll look around and see if I can find it) which involves crossdressing, boy/boy love and wacky, madcap adventures. He says he wrote this manga because he wanted to write about what was important to him.

Yeah. So... Yeah. The raving Hiei/Kurama fangirls/boys get on my nerves too, but at least they've got a leg to stand on in their arguments. The YYH IS SO NOT GAY!!!!111! fans just cause me much amusement.

I'm all about Kurama/Kuwabara anyway. *coughs and wanders off*
