Warming up for a POTC wank?
Someone inexplicably posts a rather wanky "Anyone who likes slash and hates het may well be a "fucking psycho"" rant in the Marysues community.

Highlights include the aforementioned sentence:

Look, if you like slash then fine. That's your thing. If you like slash so much to the point where you hate het then fine. You're a fucking psycho but whatever if that's your thing.

...and in the comments - let's pysically abuse fans of this pairing!

My thoughts on the rant? Turner and Sparrow should gang up on the Will/Jack 'shippers and beat him soundly with a large rock. Matter of fact, let's just have everyone from PotC take turns beating the Will/Jack 'shippers.

Wierdly enough, no-one's become particularly wanky in the comments...though I would have thought it'd only be a matter of time.

I knew that was gonna explode in wank. =P I told the poster to take it to rabidfanssuck, but I guess i should've said something about them deleting it from marysues, since it's off topic and stuff. :P

This one isn't very creative... Not only is this the exact same post she made to rabidfanssuck, but some of her comments are identical, too.

Although, maybe if she was a little more creative she would be able to understand that 'not explicitly stated in canon' =! 'impossible'.

Like I said over on i_wank, about the rabidfanssuck version of said wank, the thing that boggles me the most is that thekow (and a couple of her supporters) apparently thought the "essay" on pirategasm was serious. To be honest, it wasn't a particularly brilliant or original parody, and I can understand being initially misled by the author's claim that it's "A completely logical argument as to why Will and Jack must be slashed"--for about five seconds. But if thekow thought the author was making a serious effort to prove Jack/Will then she's got bigger problems than simply disliking Jack/Will....

Okay, Jack Sparrow is definitely bi,

And I say...Bwuah? I mean, I guess someone could see a bit of Jack flirting with Norrigton (my OTP!), but the comment still threw me at first. I saw Jack flirt with whores and I saw him flirt with Elizabeth. So I'm a bit lost where the "definitely" part comes in.

I think what she's saying is that it's okay to slash Jack as long as it's in a pairing she personally approves of.

What's wrong with ElizabethxNorrington anyway? Norrington was a good guy and I thin Liz would be lucky to have him.

I refrained from comment (it was off topic, so why continue it), but you know, I know people who ship Jack/Will/Elizabeth, Jack/Will/Norrington . . .but obviously, I cannot speak, since I like slash and het.

Perhaps I will do my bit to break brains and do Will/Elizabeth/Anamaria.

I urgently need a 'Stop being on my side -- you're maiking my side look stupid' icon. Yes, OOC slash-for-the-sake-of-slash irritates the hell out of me, especially when it and the Mary Sue (both blatant and Sue-by-proxy) fics start outnumbering the other fics (including well characterized slash and het fics) in a fandom. However, I would never say any ship was made completely out of SFTSOS or SBP writers. About the closest I could would be to say that such ships tend to attact writers like that -- which usually makes me want to see someone pull it off right.

And, unless I was trying to say that Jack/Will fics made Jack or Will (or both) into a Stu-by-proxy, I would keep it off the MSR.

Am I the only one who's not seeing the "Jack/Will is illogical" point?

I mean, all of this may be that my senses and sensibilities have been completely programmed by years of reading slash, but . . . it was my impression that Jack leered at Will and made all sorts of innuendo-ish remarks towards him throughout the film. I found the sexual tension there to be palpable, and Will's stiff responses to be a great portrayal of "repressed and freaked out as all hell". And since when does the "deceased best friend's son" thing preclude relationship possibilities? Maybe I'm just twisted?

Also, Will and Elizabeth's One True Love? Debateable. I do not trust these "from childhood" One True Love things, they're like the Mary Sues of coupledom. So uninteresting. I'm a J/W/E 'shipper, myself, but that's more because I love both Jack/Will and Jack/Elizabeth.

Whoops, longwinded. Just didn't like that nobody else was pointing out plausibility when it comes to Jack/Will . . . I'm surely a fan of some pretty implausible pairings, but I've never considered this one of 'em. =P
