Final Fantasy AND Tabletop gaming, with a side dish of anime. Yum!
Ah, gamer wank...

The Guardians of Order forums are a home for fans of GoO's products, noteably BESM an anime game system. Fans often use the boards for exchanging tips on building their favorite anime/video game worlds.

So, Mahotsukai posts a link to a Final Fantasy conversion he (?) is working on. Impish offers to help with FF6 and offers a few suggestions as to how to go about it.

Mahotsukai then gets somewhat insulting:
Hmmm...I think you need to get away from that fanboy temptation to try to regurgitate too many of those narrowly defined characters for yourself. A better idea would be to simply do up stats for all the main characters of FF6 and just RP as one of them. Incidentally, there's no evidence to suggest that there's more than one Yeti/Snowman/etc. still alive in FF6, so I wouldn't bother making that a race, unless you find a player who's willing to go "RRRGGH!!!" *pounds chest* in lieu of a character who can actually interact with others. I think most of the moogles died off in the WoR, but I'd definitely allow them. They're more legit than a mute, lumbering beast. ^_^

Impish tries to explian his points:
Im not narrowing it down. Magitek knights (Vector) such as Celes, Kefka, Leo, Magimaster (or whatever hes real name was) exist in more than a character example. Whats left of the magiknights (there is a difference) reside in the remnants of Esperville (Thamasa). Moogles exist in WoB in large quantity (Narshe), kings, retainers, rich ppl and such exist throughout the world without needing a work template.

Mahotsukai accepts that he might be right, but...
But, please, don't ever use the term 'Esperville' again, or else I shall be forced to smack you, assuming you're one of those FinalFantasyMUD or FFRPG dunderheads. ^_^

Then the wank starts flying...
Impish: Esperville *Dodges* is part of the game history. I dont like it either, but thats life ^^.

tyckspoon: You can at least not call it "Esperville". I don't think I've heard a stupider suggestion for a Final Fantasy place name

Mahotsukai: To Impish, do you ever listen to yourself when you talk? Or, more precisely, do you read what you type before you send it? I don't know what wacked-out, Bizarro-world Korean black market version of FF6 you were playing, but on the cartridge I played, I never once saw any allusion to Esperville. I do remember the Esper world being mentioned, as a separate dimension of reality, not a single city, but I sure as heck never heard Thamasa referred to as Esperville. Probably because there isn't a single esper living in it. Sorry, there I go again, using my logic and rationality to contradict your authoritative knowledge of Final Fantasy history (which comes from one of the crappiest e-book tabletop RPGs I've ever seen in my entire life on this planet). And one more thing, buddy. Don't put out that roach when you're done with it; save the rest for me. ^_~ \/

Mavrickzero makes a vague post trying to get back on topic by mapping out Final Fantays Races...

Daviebabey defends Impish and actualyl trys to bring reasojn into the wank:
Guys, guys, roll a 2d6+8 charma check here. (Hahahahaha!)
What's with the flaming of Impish? He just posted suggestions and an (apparently offensive) subsitute name for a town in a video game. Come on, some slack needs to be cut here.

Mahotsukai stops bothering Impish... only to go after maverickzero...
I'll take you up on that invitation to abuse. You criticize my FF addendum and all you have to offer is the redundant advice that you need to choose a race for your character, and list several examples, with not a single rule revision? Yeah, I'd say you have a lot more to post before you have room to dismiss everything I've done as flawed.

And I won't even go into the .hack wank Mahotsukai got into on the General forum...

The Final Fantasy Art Museum cards aren't any help as to the name of Terra's hometown, they list it as 'unknown'. (...they list the same for Gestahl, Cid, Setzer, and a few others)

And FFVI wank makes Baby Terra cry.

I could have sworn that Terra's hometown was the Esper plane. Well, birthplace, anyway.

It was. But Square still lists it as 'unknown'.

They contradict themselves a lot on those cards. For instance, Zorn and Thorn are listed as 'human'. Doesn't Kuja say they aren't?

Terra's age is given as 18, even though she has to be over 20 (the Esper world was invaded 20 years ago when she was an infant)

And these aren't really contradictions, but just really *weird* stuff. Kefka is five years *older* than Leo, at 35. Now...while it's possible that Kef uses his magic to look young...still, yo. And Gestahl? Older than dirt? Has the autograph of the guy who first made fire? Makes Tellah looks downright spritely? ...he's 50.

That's right, Cyan's age.

*beats head against desk*

If you play tabletop games... bad.

If not... well, take your pick. Is another brick in the geek wall good or bad?

Probably... consideirng both this and the .hack mini-wank... someone takes their hobby too seriously.

I'm betting there will be wank when GoO releases BESM Slayers Book 2.

It's always weird when it's familiar. o.o I haven't haunted the GoO forums for a while, but I did some editing and playtesting of some of the GoO products a while back, and seeing the name come up on F_W gave me a weird feeling. Like it had always only been a matter of time.

Actually, I think I wrote about a wank on their old message board, involving sexism and fanservice.
