Over in Feminist_Rage, someone posted about how she doesn't get why women order skim milk/claim they're fat

And then...Milk=Rape! OMG!

...good lord. This boggles the mind.

(and yes, I had to throw in my own mind about how yes, a matricial society *would* and *did* domesticate animals, but it will probably be ignored)

Am I the only one who wants to go in there and toss in something like "It is a feminist issue. After all, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" ::rimshot::

So now everytime I make breakfast, I'm gonna be fucking my Cheerios. ::holds up Cheerio:: Geez, way to puncture my masculine ego. Can we iconize a new catchphrase: "Who raped your Cheerios?"

Oh lordy. I wish I lived as well as some of the dairy cattle on my uncle's farm. Three guaranteed meals a day, pleasant company, shelter when it rains, not a worry in the world.

Milk = Rape is just silly. You think a cow consents when a bull gets her in his sight? Someone needs to spend some time with cattle, or at least watch Animal Planet occassionally.

By that logic bread = rape, too. Forcable pollination of wheat stalks to produce seeds, so they can be ground up for people to eat!! OMG! The injustice! Won't someone think of the plants?!

This reminds me of the dumb post on feminist_fatale where this guy stated that feminists (assuming that all feminists were pro-choice) were hypocrites if they neutered their pets.

And for the record, I drink 1 or 2 percent milk. Tastes just as good and has less fat without being watery. :-)

I would like to call for a feminist moratorium on this fucking "patriarchy" bullshit. As a concept and an explanation for the general tides of culture it's fine, but I am so damn sick of hearing 'don't buy into the patriarchy' anytime I want to do something, change something about myself, or interact with men. And I am more than sick and tired of hearing "the patriarchy made me..." when the truth is that said person is going with the flow.

The patriarchy didn't make me study psychology instead of engineering, my interests did. The patriarchy doesn't make me put on makeup, I like the way I can change my features using it. The patriarchy doesn't make me want to loose weight, my desire to move easier, move faster, be stronger, and match up to my internal image of myself when I was thin does.

Is it just me, or is "the patriarchy" an excuse to feel good about oneself by trumping something that doesn't really exist anymore? Either that, or exist as a reason for why idiots can't get ahead in the world? Fuck the patriarchy.
