THE NEW POTTER FILM IS UNCANONICAL WANK!!! Again.
Oi. A short wank this, but dear lord, the vitriol is quite something to behold.

Scizo_frenic makes a short post about hoping that the new Potter film won't suck. Crzydemona asks for an explanation as to why everyone thinks the new film "is fucked," and then oh boy, does she get one. Wenelda goes on to explain just why the film has raped canon up the ass at great length then complains when Crzydemona replies to her comment. It's...aggressive to say the least.

Wenelda is actually a friend of mine so I'm really astounded by this. She's a lot of fun much of the time but whoa, she needs to take a chill-pill here.

I really and truly hate this fandom sometimes. Can't we find something better to wank over than the costumes the kids are wearing when they're not even in school? I don't see Harry wearing robes on the book covers, after all. And Rowling has said since the *first* movie came out that Harry's scar is not over the center of his forehead, it's exactly where it is in the movie. But I forgot, the author is never right.

And even if JKR had said it was really in the middle of his forehead, we're talking about a thin red line that's moved about one inch to the left on a character's face. Is that really enough to destroy a story? I believe Harry's hair is also described as being darker than the kid in the movie's, but I can still follow the plot. (But then, I've also always pictured the scar over his eye as well.)

As far as the scar goes, it's general consensus amongst the people I talk with that "over his forehead" means the middle of his forehead.

She complained about "flying dementors" on the Quidditch field, but ... there never were dementors at Quidditch, just Draco and goons dressing up as dementors. I certainly don't have a problem with artistic license putting Draco-in-costume on a broomstick. Someone needs to reread her books.

Actually, there were dementors at Quidditch, against Hufflepuff. It was the Ravenclaw match when Draco/Goyle/Crabbe/Flint faked it, in hopes to make Harry fall off his broom again.

Am I the only person who thinks PoA looks way more promising than the boring, over-long dross that preceded it? Did you notice how Daniel Radcliffe fluffed every single line in CoS? At least this time we might get a director who knows the phrase "Take Two" and isn't too busy worrying about his poxy effects.

I've got to say, most HP wanks are about obnoxiously irrelevant shit. I've had my fair complaints about the movie, but I don't criticize their overall quality for that (an example is Sir Headless Nick's Deathday party. It would have translated WONDERFULLY into a movie scene. Why oh why couldn't it have been in Chamber? And it would've given the best actor in the entire production a chance to show off a little!).


However, there is one complaint there that seriously makes me raise an eyebrow. Is it true that they're replacing Harry's Patronus with a shield instead of a stag? That does seem like a very major mistake, flavorwise. It's not a huge plot point or anything, but it wrecks with the flavor of his character. It's like, if you changed McGonagall's animagus form to be a rabbit instead of a cat. Doesn't destroy the plot, but it does kind of screw up the flavor of the thing. And I don't even get what the point would be... certainly a stag would LOOK cooler.

I get so fucking sick of explaining to anti-movie HP fans why PoA *might* be a helluva lot better than PS and CoS.

They never listened. So I stopped trying to convince them.

And I have to say, I haven't been in fandom all that long, but man. HP is the most petty, and spawns the most obnoxious wank, of any fandom I've ever come across.

Wow...This is Scizo_Frenic from over at LJ, and I just found this. >_< I didn't know my innocent comment would spark a wank! I feel special. :D

Wenelda is(was) a friend of mine, and I said I wasn't taking sides in the whole argument, but she took me for taking Jen's side because I was trying to help her see what Jen meant... I was just trying to be reasonable and then shortly after she de-friended me. *shrug* She's a good person, she really is.
