Ph33r the LJ Abuse Team
Eight months ago, LJ user Xandria, known for her biting commentary on badfic in HP fandom, posted an "anti-rec" about a fic she didn't like her her xandriasficrecs journal.

Today, she had to edit the eight month old post because someone reported her to LJ abuse for violation of TOS.

Xandria's public reaction: So... is the LJ Abuse Team (who I have infinite respect for, and where would we be without their often thankless work?) 8 months behind in trolling millions of posts for infractions? No. I'm sure they have better things to do. I'd like to think that they are imposing their force on the true forces of evil in the LJ universe, not searching for piss ant infractions such as this one. Sadly, they have such better things to do that Ms. Greywood (the only one who can file an abuse report) should be ashamed of herself for bringing this PUBLIC post to the LJ Abuse Team's attention SINCE I only copied and pasted Ms. Greywood's PUBLIC POST HERE. Is copying and pasting public information made by an individual "uniquely identifying information"? I don't think so.

She includes several links in her post, to other posts which futher the wank.

Yeah, I guess, if you squint, that's a TOS violation. It sucks like LJ Abuse has to bend to morons like that. But in a world full of lawyers.. *shrug*

I sounds like the person who filed the report wanted to be a pain in the ass. What other reason is there for making a report because someone is reposting public information?

Well, when I saw the target in question's Net handle, I assumed this was Slayers fic, but when I read down...

...it's HP fandom again.

When the hell are they going to learn the meaning of PUBLICALLY ACCESSIBLE INFORMATION?

That goes for LJ Abuse too.

I tried to forget about that fic all those months ago (not to mention my atrocious comment which I didn't proofread all those months ago). I just realized that this is one of many fics that I dare not read. I see it on the Veela ml and immediately delete it. I have to thank Xan for her bravery in reading such trash and for dealing with stupidity without getting pissed. Knowing her, she was probably laughing her ass off when she was contacted by lj abuse.

Good Lord, people. The level of hypocrisy displayed here is unbelievable.

But wait... don't go away. I have new treats for you -- oh yes, I do. It would appear I am not alone in my dislike of this author's writing abilities.

Alina and Maddie don't seem to care for Ms. Grey's writing abilities either (http://www.kalime.com/burn/fics/05.html).

And Ms. Grey also goes by the name LagunaLoire, and you can find her Fandomination.net Bio and Story List here (http://www.fandomination.net/?mode=bio&AuthorID=2805).

She even tries to subject new verbiage upon the world via Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=apreg).

In fact, if you google any of her pen names, you can find out whatever information you want about her. I found her real name, wedding photos, cute kitties, etc. in no time You know what, honey, if you don't want your information on the 'net, don't put yourself on the 'net. It's that simple.

And no, I'm not a stalker or psycho. Just someone who doesn't understand not wanting their publicly spread e-mail address in a public location (and no, I'm not talking about Friends Only LiveJournals -- I'm talking about PUBLICLY accessible posts). Or is Ms. Grey (real name withheld because I'm not that much of a cunt) taking exception to this post itself where I deride the characterization and plot of one of her fics?

If so, yes, I have outgrown lambasting people who, in MY opinion, are poor writers. It's a waste of my time and energy and I realize that now. However, I still stand by my opinion that this is (again, in MY OPINION) a poor fic. Mind, I am a firm believer that a large percentage of fanfic in the HP Fandom is awful -- a whack of mine included.

I will spare you all my litany on "why write, what do you want from writing and it's okay to suck at writing if you're doing so for entertainment but give us all fair warning".

It's simply that things like this cause me to shake my head. And I extend my apologies to the LJ Abuse Team for having to even deal with this.

I am driven to scream "why??? why????" The writing isn't horrid but the characterization makes me cringe. And I've just so had my fill of Lucius raping Draco so we can sympathize with the spoiled blond git and coo over his upcoming rescue/relationship with Harry.

Inexeperienced or unmindful people should not write sex. Lucius' characterization is so butchered and so just downright awful that it should not be. I just want to scream "do not use the character of Lucius as a plot device". He's not a fucking plot device. He's a complex character who deserves some respect. No, he's not nice -- he does some very wicked things but there's no goddamn proof he does horrid things with his family or would behave in this manner (and this is coming from me, someone who writes and reads Malfoycest). Cringe, cringe, cringe.

Wow. That second request from the abuse team is an...ideosyncratic interpretation of the TOS. Does this mean it's now breaking the TOS to use the LJ supplied tags to include LJ usernames if the user has an e-mail address displayed on their user info page? Boggle.

I read as much as I could of the fandomination version of that story. I gotta tell you, I stopped reading not because of the rape, but because Snape was casually chatting with Hagrid and giving theater tickets to distraught kids.
