Guess what?
Yes, indeed. Those damned HP plaguists plajerizts plagiarists are at it again. Although this might be more a case of 'totally unable to come up with own ideas'.

I love the “You’ll all be sorry!” *lots of fist-shaking* post made by the author’s “sister”. I wonder if any other relatives or friends will pop up to defend the plagiarist. Good times, good times.

Does it make me a bad person if I wanted to post, "Yes, I would definitely discourage her based on that passage and I haven't even read her 'tribute' to LIAB yet."

The sad thing is, I read hers. And then I read Lissanes.

And...honestly, I didn't think either were particularly good.

But I did only read the prologues, and so probably shouldn't make snap judgements.

Grouchybeast's review is the best! In which s/he manages to say that not only did little Ms. AmberMagicSpell plagiarize Lisanne, but that both stories are crap anyway, calling the plagiarizer's version an improved one over the original!

Boy, had lots of giggling over that.

yes, indeed! it was fantastic, sort of a snark-gasm! and then she offers to beta for the twit, and the twit *accepts*! and apologizes for the whole thing! it's so surreal, it's like the ending of a badfic!

Statistically, it's been shown that nonexistent sisters are much more verbal than nonexistent brothers. At least at that age.

The invisible brothers are all out playing invisible baseball. The sister always has invisible acne and is forced to stay in the invisible home because the invisible kids from school make fun of her.

It's sad really.

My favourite is the excerpt from Amber's novel.

'Canandia stood at Alantra’s door, waiting for her to come. Alantra rounded the corner, and saw her sister standing there.
“Good evening Canandia.” She said, and smiled at her sister. Canandia looked intolerant.

Canandia sounds like a thrush medication.

Apologizing personally, via email, IM, or whatever, is the least you can do for Liss.

"The least"? Isn't it pretty much the *only* thing she can do, what with this being the internet and all?

Being plagiarized sucks, but I can't get over how folks online act as if it's the eighth deadly sin--especially when the only thing at stake is fanfiction.

This wank makes me disappointed that I have never been plagiarized, but impressed by the large number of ways to spell said word. I wonder how old this girl is, though. 12? Who knew Draco Malfoy: male model would be such a popular theme?

...or is the irony of someone being accused of plagiarism and told, "Just so you know, most people have little respect for this sort of "creative" lifting you've managed to do in this fic." on a fic site that was originally started to give Cassie Claire a place to go after getting kicked off ff.net just too amusing?

The only way people ever become better writers is to write their own stuff. You will never grow as a writer if you 'borrow' from other people.

*dies, just fucking dies* Too funny, just too funny. You know, if they're going to be crusaders in the holy war against plagiarization *snorfles*, they should skip all the minor demons and go after satan, erm, excuse me, the great and wonderful authoress of great and original prose: Miss Cassandra Claire. Really really.

God? It's me, Dawn. I haven't asked for much lately, so I was wondering if you could hook me up. Would it be possible for her "sister" to post in a bit, and explain how the author hurt herself "BADLY", and how we should all feel horrible and burn in Hell for hurting this amazing writer and cutting short a promising career? Maybe something involving maiming-by-papercuts. Thanks.

I'm wondering if people really still name their kids Titania. I mean, if you're going to make up an invisible sister you should pick a simple name. I would have used Linda myself.

There is utterly no way you can truly make up to Lissanne for the way you've kicked her. You've stolen from one of the most loved people in this fandom, and one who's willing to share and has the greatest ability to rise above things that I've seen in a long time.

Good Lordy above. Has anyone seens a shred of evidence that Lissanne (who, from my skim-read of her epic, is a bad writer of overblow romantic crap) gives a toss about any of this?

Taking someone's ideas and characters and then using them to write an inferior, distorted version of the original for your own entertainment...you know, that reminds me of something. I wonder what it is? Damn. Now I'll be worrying about it all night.

So what is the dictionary definition?
[info]dorothy1901
2003-04-14 02:23 am UTC (link)
As Apolla said, you haven't done the dictionary definition of plaugiarism, but the plot and characters are a little too close to Liss's for comfort.

I went to the dictionary to look up the definition of "plaugiarism," but I couldn't find it. Could this be part of the problem? And where exactly is the plaugiarism comfort zone located?
