I'm going to go out on a potentially wanky limb here and say that the reason a lot of people reject the idea of SubaruXKamui is they just don't want Subaru to be happy.

Well, I feel enlightened now. Why like something because it's canon?

I dunno. I can see why she'd be annoyed, considering Sailor Mac took a jab at about half of the fandom in the process of her post:

I'm going to go out on a potentially wanky limb here and say that the reason a lot of people reject the idea of SubaruXKamui is they just don't want Subaru to be happy. They like the idea of him as a grand, tragic figure spiralling down into hell without hope for redemption.

But then, I've already had my wank about that elsewhere.

The thing is I don't see this as a 'jab' or a insult. I know many folks who cheerfully admit to being angstwhores who really seem to enjoying torturing characters via fanfics.

There's nothing wrong with this, and there are a lot of good stories that come from this.

Plus she has a point. I think part of the appeal of characters like Subaru and Kamui is that they are tragic figures who [if CLAMP was continuing the goddamned series] might end up dying in the end.

I do think her phrasing was off but I don't think she was trying to be insulting.

IIRC, there was a movie (I think most of the fans hated it, though?). There's also one anime series, but I think it's supposed to be more of a prequel to the X manga or something?

I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again, but really:

WHY can't the X fandom ever find anything else to hiss and spit over? It's always SxS vs. SxK. Personally, I can see the potential in both, and I don't get why it's so important bash the supporters of either. Dude, if you don't like it, it's not that difficult to avoid. Just do so, and move on.

This is why I've spent most of this year avoiding the X fandom. Not only does it get wanky, but it gets wanky about the same thing. Every time. And really, there's nothing worse than trite wank.

Because they're the only couples you really can wank about.

I don't think anyone has a problem with SoraxArashi, folks may raise a eyebrow but they seem to accept YuzurihaxKusanagi.

Satsuki doesn't get enough screentime to have wank about her, same for Karen and Seiichirou.

Kakyou's unconcious and he's all about moping over Hokuto. She's dead and so is Kotori, limiting their choices.

Fuuma, Yuuto and Kanoe are the sluts of the series, Keiichi disappeared, the CLAMP campus boys are only bit players and have their own series anyway.

So that just leaves the SxS and SxK shippers to go at it.

Like 2/3 of the people who have replied to this thread are/once was part of the X fandom. I see wankage from within, sly and shifty as it is! ;) And picking over pairing details when, hey, perhaps its better to just point and laugh. It's okay.

My opinion @ anything CLAMP is that you can pair ANYONE with ANYONE, regardless of their gender, and have it work out. Even if they're with multiple people.

CLAMP= Polymorphous Polysexual Pervert Love Orgy in Animanga Format.

As for myself...I'm rather fond of Kanoe/Satsuki/Yûto. >D
