More Foxtrot wankiness!
This week's series of comics refers to Jason wanting to take over Disney, and make various changes, including making Mickey and Minnie anime-style. The first comment is by eclipsegryph, and is fine, but janusdoa decides to take on eclipsegryph over his <http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=eclipsegryph>interest list</a>, specifically that EG lists 'otherkin' as an interest.

The conversation degrades from there, and seems to be developing into a bit of a furry wank. So far, my favourite exchange is where pdi lays some smackdown on janusdoa.

I've never understood the whole commenting on a comic feed thing. It's a COMIC STRIP. Then again, my life and interests have yet to be ruined by a comic so maybe I've just been lucky.

I never got it either. I have a few feeds on my LJ flist, and I always see at least 20 comments on each. I checked, and most of them aren't even in reply to one another, but to the strip itself. Do they think it's going to answer back, or something?

I love the way someone went and looked at a poster's userinfo to start a troll fight. Who the hell does that? Of course, I then went and looked at janusdoa's userinfo, which is hilarious, all about "yeah I piss people off...screw you". Oh, and as someone noted, one of her/his' interests is "hot, buttery cocks." Mmm...

Plus, not to mention that I'd never heard of otherkin, and got to find a whole bunch of ridiculous LJ comms on it. Er, not to be mean, but dude, that's bizarre.

And then the anime wank! I have no fucking clue what would have offended people there. All I know is that Amend drew the goat exactly right and that he therefore ROXORZ forever.

Finally, we get the loveliest smackdown from zerochan. Yee-haw.

Wow, janusdoa is a real asshat. Did all that just pop out of nowhere, or is there some big backstory cloud hovering in the background? Does he/she trawl around in random people's user info looking for stuff to be offended about? 'Cause that's just unhealthy.

I don't like pretentious passive-aggressive teenagers, but that doesn't mean I flame them if they comment in a community I'm a member of. Although, it does sound like fun ;)

Heh. It's good that the guy that does Foxtrot occasionally tries to actually show Jason as being interested in things a young kid like him WOULD be interested in, but unless it's something old-school geek like LotR, or Star Wars, he has a history of missing it, either by a little or a lot.
I saw the Japanese animation mention (which has never been brought up for Jason before), thought "Oh dear", and looked at the next panel. My thought there was "Hm. Wonder if he's ever actually seen any anime, or just gotten someone to describe a little to him?" I mean, it looked more like the original Steamboat Willy than anime... the only anime things were a nonsense line in Minnie's dialogue and her wearing what MIGHT be a schoolgirl uniform.
So, it was a stupid gag by a guy attempting to be "with it". Many people would easily let it go... alas for the wankers, who cannot.

And I second [info]rann on how the strip itself is trying too hard. I remember a story arc where Jason was rambling on about internet cliches (All Your Base, The Terrorists Have Already Won, etc.) and it was pretty painful.

I don't even understand the comic...and, there's something just a bit imbalanced about reading a pointless but completely inoffensive comment and then deciding you need to go look for unrelated things in the commenter's user info in order to intentionally start shit. On a comic strip. It might just be me, but I think quietly and harmlessly believing something nutty is better than being loudly and aggressively insane.

I thought this was funny...odd. Especially the Toriyama Akira-style Mickey! XD

I read this comic as Amend trying to be subversive, which I think he did a good job of doing.

...People have no sense of humor, I swear. And what's so wrong with liking both anime and American stuff? Cartoonists are cartoonists.
