Ah how we love Brad et al
Did anyone see the LiveJournal Abuse Team wank?

Person reads post at LJDrama about inconsistent LJ Abuse team suspensions.

Person posts in LJ_biz:

It seems the team has had a very shaky history over the life of the service, and I was wondering, when this "double blind secret police" would actually be reigned in.

Then goes on to say:

I wonder if I'll be suspended after asking this.

Replies include:

Why, are you looking to be suspended?

and

Do you really want to base your opinion of the Abuse team on (LJ Drama Files)?

and

wtf does this have to do with lj_biz?

It's always fun when someone pulls out the Niemoller poem (you know ... "I didn't speak up for the Jews/Gays/Pinko Commies/LJ Abuse Team and then there was no one left when they came for me ...")

There's even more at abuse_lj_abuse. ;)

Dang, that Shamanix guy is a Grade-A moron, right down to the "you must be a troll if you question me" attitude. Don't I feel confident that the abuse team is doing their job efficiently and fairly knowing he's on the job. Sheesh.

I didn't think that he was being a moron. He overreacted to that particular commenter, but throughout the rest of the comments he's been fairly reasonable.

Hm, you think? I dunno, I looked through this thread, and reasonable was not the first word that popped into my mind when I read any of his posts.

The few times I've come into contact with LJ Abuse I've really not been impressed with their service.

But I'm not really clear on what this is about. Did I miss something somewhere along the way?

Maybe the OP could give a synopsis. I didn't read the ljdrama stuff, just because I find it hard to know what anyone is talking about there. But I did gather that the abuse team suspended a buttload of users and then immediately went on a mass vacation. That gave me a giggle.

Now *thats* quality service!

That's basically what happened. Then a lot of users wrote in to appeal their decision, which automatically kicked off the long reviewing process that Abuse takes when cases are appealed -- and got frustrated and thought that the Abuse Team as ignoring them when they didn't get an immediate response.

And lo, there was much wanking! There were posts made in lj_biz and posts made in abuse_lj_abuse, and it seemed like all of the people who hates the Abuse team joined in on the fun.

Then, a couple (few?) of days later, Abuse unsuspended a lot of the journals that they suspended. O_o But not all, so there will still be much wanking.

One of the Abuse managers did apologize for the rotten timing in the middle of all of it.

There was also one user who died while her journal was suspended, invoking rage among the community.

Hm. Check your calendars--see what's exactly one week away from today?

Remember what LJAbuse did for the day in question last year?

Smart money says they're gearing up for another gross waste of LiveJournal's resources harmless April Fool's stunt.

I recall that. Instead of doing something useful they were making it seem like all sorts of LJ staffers were getting suspended by other LJ staffers. They even created a LJ style that made it appear that they were gone. I sincerely they keep from doing that sort of crap this year as it was just such a huge waste of time.

I'd be shocked if they did something similar -- there was a huge fallout from that practical joke gone wrong, and I think they learned their lesson. They had no idea people would take it as seriously as they did.

As much as I'm severely less than impressed with the way that LJ Abuse works (or doesn't work, as it were), this was a bit ridiculous. Though I do kind of sympathize with the "I wonder if I'll be suspended after asking this" line. Given how erraticly they suspend people sometimes, I wouldn't be surprised if some people were smacked down for similar things or less.

The people on the Abuse Team aren't the type of people who would suspend people for speaking out against them. At all.

Really? So the Fandom Wanker who got kicked off LJ for posting in her own LJ telling the abuse team to chug cock, that whole "this account has been suspended" thing was all in her head?

(No, I don't remember who it was. That's okay, someone else will.)

so the people at ljdrama got their journals suspended and responded by whining endlessly, overreacting, and generally behaving exactly like the folks they make fun of all the time? ha. that is funny.
