OMFG!!!!111!! Child porn at LOTR RPS group!
Hmmm, two wanks in the space of a few hours might seem a little ambitious, but I think this is a little too good to miss. So I present to you, the LOTR RPS wank from a yahoo group by the name of CharactersInBloom.

NOTE: Some names have been edited out to protect the identity of the clueless.



Apparently, Haleth had issues with one of the drabbles an author wrote, which incidentally mentions a 16 year old Henry Mortensen in a... compromising position with a certain Orlando Bloom.

Note, i said mentioned. There was no indication of the actual sexual encounter taking place, nor referances to naked penises or orgasms. But there was mention of a naked Henry on the bed with a naked Bloom as seen in just ONE line here...

“You were both naked,” the older man said through gritted teeth, “in bed,” he advanced towards a cowering Orlando, “how the FUCK is that not what it looks like?”

and then another here...

“At what point did it seem like a good idea to have sex with your best friend’s (Note: Viggo in this case)son? He’s 16! It’s illegal!

Now, if you are squicked by it, you'd prolly give one short comment that expresses displeasure or shake your grey head in dismay at how much the moral values of our youths have deteriorated as compared to the times you had like 50 years ago.

But our dear friend, Haleth, got all OMG OFFENDED.

i would think that would be a pretty obvious no go area haleth.

just for the record the age of consent in england is 16 im not sure
about the rest of the world. but anything under that age would be counted as abuse.

The question is, what's explicit?As to age of consent, it varies from state to state in the US, just as it varies from country to country in the world.

And then another...

I will fight to ban child porn to the death, but I don't feel that this fic is a fight that I would pick. The kid (Henry in this case) was a jumping off point, not an actual entity to the story. To avoid this in the future I would just eliminate the problem and just stay away from the whole thing.

But our dear friend, being the champion of all things holy and pure (despite the fact that she writes porn herself, hence this tribute to her superior intelligence), disagrees...

It was metioned explicitly in the story that the child was 16 years
old, that he was found naked in bed with an adult, and the fact that
the act of bedding him was illegal was stated in the story.

There are Yahoo rules about age and consent, and if you don't think
Yahoo would love an excuse to get rid of an explicit slash site,
particularly in the case of RPS, you're terribly naive about the
state of censorship in America.

And still people try to reason with this "mare" that had somehow galloped off too fast and too soon. (the wankage of course. Not her. Now why would I call her that?)


All right... point taken. For that, at least. But it's not 'sexual'... it
takes for granted that there is sexual conduct in the background, but it
doesn't go into it besides a brief mention. That's why, while I'll agree
that it's not appropriate for this to be written, I still think it's not, by
any means, porn.

I'm not claiming that this is all right. I'm not justifying it, saying it
should be posted everywhere, or even particularly defending the motivations
of the author. I just think that claiming that this is porn is going a bit
far, and that putting the label of 'child porn' on it is inaccurate.

I haven't read said story, but what I've read of the arguements I tend to side with you. What story was this? I completely missed the whole thing and now it's a big fuss.... don't see the big deal. Someone made a mistake, give them a break.

But would she back down? A thousand times no! She will fight to the end to defend helpless 16 year old Henry against the perversion of this one author... or at least look stupid DIE trying. (sorry, it's 2.39 am here, and I'm a little sleepy hence these TERRIBLE OMG typos.)

The policy I've seen at other groups is that stories are not allowed
in which people under the age of 18 engage in sexual activities, no
matter how explicit.

The authorities take sexual activity as just that, and rarely care
about the actual portrayal of the sex. In my neighbourhood a very
well-known portrait artist (he was one of Pietro Annigoni's last
students, I know him because I studied with one of his students)was
giving workshops in mass drawing and graphite rendering. One of his
paintings, in the classical style including cherubs , was featured on
the poster announcing the workshop. A local restaurant with the
poster in the window was visited by the vice squad after a complaint
of 'child pornography" was made. Now, this was a painting along the
lines of Bougereau's "The First Kiss", and there was no explicit
sexual activity going on. (If you don't know that painting or the
artist, do a search - Bougereau was an amazing painter, and sometimes
maligned for nudity etc in his paintings of classical scenes - it was
sort of photorealistic fan fic!)Didn't matter - there was naked kids
in it. (Thankfully, the complaint was dropped when the cops realized
how ludicrous it was, and who the art teacher was.)

If I were only concerned with my personal response, I would be
calling for warnings (it was rather sickening to read for me, mother
of a teenage boy).

But this is about the security of the whole group, you me the
moderators, every writer, every reader and every lurker. If you want
to keep the group and the site, you have to follow the rules.

Of course, she convenient forgets that she's in a group where people thrive on daily porn fanfics and that minors weren't actually allowed in this group as it was especially for adults... But this we must overlook because Haleth the great, one with the great mind and great arsenal of vocabulary MUST always be right, because I says so. Yes. I says so. mutters under breath

So as our brave wankee champion (sorry, sorry. Just a slip of the middle finger) faces reason and logic from all sides, the Moderator decided to step in and erase all traces of wankerage to save the reputation of their precious group as seen here...

While the issue in this thread is serious and of great importance to the world at large, it has run its course for the context of this group.
