Respect the tarot cards or else...
A small wank but still amusing.
So, granola_squirrel makes a post in the Writer's forum talking about using her tarot cards for story ideas and how she's considering writing a short story series using the major arcana cards as a theme for each story. All is well until Demonic Curse starts:
You do know that Tarot cads are NOT to help you write but to help you with what is comming up in the imediate future dont you? They were NOT made so you can write stories with they can tell you that you are perhaps going to be creative in the next 6 months but other then that your NOT meant to use the cards like they are some muse. I have been studying the tarot for nearly 9 years and using them the way you are is bad for the cards (yes the cards have an auroa/vibe and it is bad using them as some writing tool).
If you cant use Tarot cards properly then dont use them at all.
Oh no! Treat your little peices of cardboard with respect, folks, or the Wiccan Police will come down on your asses!

I happen to be a collector of Tarot cards, and study their history and whatnot as well. Been doing so for... let's see, it's been almost 15 years now. There's nothing at all special about Tarot cards. They're just bits of cardboard, painted or printed, nothing more. They're mass-produced by companies that put absolutely zero mystical powers into them, and are only interested in your money.
You can use them for your fortune telling, sure. As such, they are more likely a focus for natural talent, if such a thing even exists. The cards themselves do nothing, they are merely symbolic representations of various popular ideals that can be used to reflect your own subconscious. You can also use them as a writing aid, which I think is a wonderful idea - in many ways, it's the same as using them for fortune-telling, but more honest. At least using them for writing, you know it's really little more than a fancy way of talking to yourself.

If you wish to believe in the mystical powers of your cards, feel free to do so. But don't expect anyone else to.
Demonic Curse procedes to throw a huge bitch fit, claiming, amoung other things, that her aunt is REAL HONEST TO GOODNESS 100% PURE PSYCHIC and how police officers are using tarot to solve cases. Boy, I'd love to be in the precinct the day of their readings.
