Erm, yeah. Someone on my flist tried to pull this as an April Fools gag, so I got déjà vu when I saw it on JF. Heh.

But honestly? If the people on her list have any courtesy at all, they'll keep their pr0n behind lj-cuts, and it's really not that hard to just not click. You know, the absence of clicking? The thing where there is no clickage involved? The wonderful device known as the 'back' button, the one slashers swear by in their disclaimers? Yep.

And swearing, unless I missed some memo, is not an un-Christian thing to do--you just need to keep it to "you fucking asshole son-of-a-bitch, that was a really shitty thing to do" instead of "go to hell." Shouldn't be that hard, really. *pats twiggymolly* Good luck, dear.

I'm reminded of [info]kannaophelia mentioning ages ago that a fan gave up Rocketshipping because she "found God". Really, what does "finding God" have to do with FANDOM?! I mean, I can understand someone who was once totally depraved cleaning up their act and giving up porn after "finding God" made them wanna take sex more seriously, but still...

I was always amused by the wording of the phrase 'I found God.'

It sounds like you misplaced him, or something.

Though as an incorporeal entity, he'd be pretty good at Hide and Seek.

About the wank (which I actually found rather non wanky so far): people are entitled to their personnal beliefs and choices. As long as they're polite about them, as this poster clearly was, I respect that.

I love wank as much as the next wanker, but I don't see any here. Twiggymolly specifically said she wasn't saying there is anything wrong with the people she's defriended. She didn't say pr0n or swearing was a sin. She said those things tempt her to sin. So yeah, understandable to want to avoid it. A public post was perhaps not the best way to deal with it, but she was polite and tried to avoid hurting anyone's feelings. Sorry, no snaps for this one.

So...Why not just do up a non-porno f-list group and quietly click on that every day? Why loudly announce your Grace with God so loudly? Particularly because, as she says, she almost never comment[s] or add[s] to the fandom in anyway, I really doubt this will affect anyone anyways.

If no one will notice, why say anything at all? Why not just let the friends list sit there in bliss filled ignorance?

And the journal has been deleted. I thought she was just going to defriend people.

Luckily enough, I read the post earlier today. And while I was reading I kept thinking, Okay...she's deleting these people, and probably hurting some feelings in the process, because she doesn't have enough self-control to NOT click a lj cut tag? Uh.... I mean, it's like she's punishing her 'friends' because she can't keep herself from 'teh pr0n.'
