Ehhh, I like the Draco Trilogy. It'll never cease to amaze me how people who want to bitch about Cassie Claire go to these inredible, hysterically operatic proportions to decry her work as Gouge-your-eyes-out, offensive-to-anyone-who-speaks-English-even-brokenly horrifying, and it's just not.

I don't know CC personally, and I'm sure she's less than perfect (like the rest of us) but sometimes that fandom is like a pack of wolves. It's like the CC haters think they're part of some smart counterculture, and they mostly just come off as... well, haters. cf [info]courtney_beth.

Heh. The only reason I commented was I was bored and it was very late and I was feeling a need for wanky release. If you've seen one anti-Cassie troll, you've see them all. Just like any other wank hot topic.

I do like Cassie, both as a person and an author, and I love the Draco Trilogy. However, this troll, just like everyone else who feels it is DARING and BOLD to stand up to it, seems to put a whole lot more energy into hating Cassie and her work that most ordinary fans do in to loving it. I would just like to get a few things straight about us:

1. We fangirls really don't care whether you like DT. We only get nasty when you insult us or Cassie. Constructive criticism, however, is always welcome. Also, sometimes people mistake a rebuttal as an attack. On the DT review boards, we debate. If you say something that I don't agree with, I'll question your argument, point out your weak spots, and wait for you to respond. Many times people mistake this as, "OMG, she's yelling at me! Fucking bitch!" No, I'm just debating with you. That's just what we do.

2. We can spell. No really, we can. We only talk like n00bs when we're mocking someone or something.

3. We all know each other, and are good friends, which is why we're so quick to defend each other.

4. We like Cassie because we like her fic, and because she is nice to us. I've heard some people say that, "She thinks she's too important to pay her fans any attention," or some bullshit. I can tell you right now that I am her fan, and she has paid attention to me, so I have no idea where that lie came from.

5. I've been in fandom for about a year and a half now, and I have never heard a good reason for hating Cassie. I'm getting sick of hearing, "She plagiarizes, so now I want to kill her!" Weak, people. Weak.

That is not me. I happen to like DT and am not ashamed of liking it. However, I don't drool over CC's every word when she posts. I'm not so delusional into thinking that OMFG!!! You know, when someone who has rec'd your fic is being flamed (or whatever you want to call this), the correct response is not, 'But she doesn't rec only BNFs because she rec'd me! Does that make me a BNF? Hehehehe! :)' Because that just make you look stupid. Not to mention completely proves the point that said rec'er only recs morons.
