And Just When I Thought It Was Safe.....
Not even Discovery Channel is safe from wank. I'm a rather big fan of Mythbusters, but I only lurk at the boards. I thought things might have been wank-free until I found this.

Nevermind that, as someone in the thread points out, the Corvette used in busting this particularly gross myth wasn't new by any means. But apparently because they sacrificed a rather dilapidated model of the poster's favorite car, the folks at Discovery Channel aren't smart people anymore.

this goes to cavicat get a life that year vett was not any work of art it was a pos it had no power it was a dog chevy didn't do that body still right the newer ones are better but the just don't live up to the vett standerd get a life

Discovery Channel wank? Yeah, surprised. Corvette wank? Surprised we've not seen it before. :)

What did they do to the car, BTW? I'm a History Channel junkie, and I tend to miss Discovery Channel stuff while being mesmerized by the history of concrete.

If I remember correctly, they left dismembered bodies of pigs and garbage in it to see if they could clean it up and sell it.

Tested the myth of the Stinky Car, the urban legend that a guy dies in his snazzy sportscar, and by the time he's discovered, the stench of his decaying body is so ingrained in the fabric that it can't be removed, and the car smells SO bad that it can't even be given away, let alone sold.

To test the myth, the Busters took an old Corvette, stuffed two dead pigs in it (both dead of natural causes), sealed the car for two months, then tried to clean it up and sell it.

They recruited an extreme cleanup team (the people who clean coroners' trucks) to help them clean it, and eventually sold the car via newspaper ad for scrap parts, for somewhere around $500. Myth busted.

Okay... I thought the Discovery Channel had smart people! I used to have respect for the Mythbusters, until this episode. What is wrong with you idiots!? A Corvette? Why? Why ruin a perfect piece or machinery like a 'Vette?

Well, you can kinda understand... I can't even THINK of buying a Corvette, or any car, and here these guys are, locking pigs in the thing and selling it for scrap. n.n;
But then, I whimper when all those nice cars are blown up and destroyed in action movies...

Ditto on the Mythbusters love. Though I don't think that they did anything to the duck that would arouse PETA (or any one else's) suspicions(except maybe shake them a little. I think Jamie and Adam get fidgety when they don't get to blow things up). Personally I loved that ep, because it seems like every time I get a chain mail of interesting "facts" the duck myth is in there every single time.

Was that the episode with the chicken cannon? I forget. XD
