Why has Randy crushed my little SUG heart?!
Another QAF fanwank.....

Michael Musto's latest Village Voice column talks about QAF upcoming season 4 and he talks to some of the actors from the show.

Well, it seems that Randy Harrison has been in a 2-year relationship with a writer-editor from New York Magazine, named Simon. He's NOT with Gale Harold.

SUG's all over LJ are ready to slit their wrists in utter disbelief.

I've discovered a community of about 120 Clay Aiken bona fide tinhats. People who honestly believe he's under contract to not come out and is having a secret affair with his very pretty male hairdresser. So secret that Aiken tells funny anecdotes about the hairdresser on radio interviews. I lurk on the board out of sheer morbid fascination. What's fun is that they infiltrate other Clayboards thinking no one's ever seen their screenhandle before, and try to subtly interject their conspiracy theories among the normals. Their board, though, is truly something to behold. Very early days DL Anon. The "OMG I found a picture of him doing his HAIR! THEY ARE SO FUCKING!" squeeage, it is in another galaxy of delusion!

I've been terrified of posting it here, though, for fear that they may track me down and set me on fire.

LOL.. When I first read about the news, I was happy for the couple and THEN I started to laugh, because I realized that this news would NOT be accepted by the small minority of QAF fans who "believe" in G/R.

It has spread like wildfire throughout the fandom. There're some G/R people who are post rants in dismay that OTHER people in their fandom are creating Anti-Simon icons/wallpapers. Some of them are even referring to the man as Semen.

Repeat after me, tinhats. There are no scripts, no petitions, and certainly no canon continuity that can alter the lives of real human beings.

I just can't WAIT until the other have of this "OTP" actually makes a public appearance with a woman who's actually his girlfriend and the tinhats/sugs CAN'T find ANYTHING that will disprove the fact of that relationship.

This is why I'm happy that the closest I have to an RPS OTP consists of a pair of actors who have never ever worked together and, even though they're both Brit citizens, may never have even met because one's based in NYC and one in London. The fact that in RL they've both been with their female SOs for at least 10 years doesn't hurt either.

If I wanted reality I wouldn't call what I do "fiction."

Someone please explain this whole RPS shipping deal to me, because most of it I learned off fandom wank anyway.

So when Elijah Wood and Dom Monwhatsit are represented in the media as not being together, it's a media conspiracy.

When this Randy guy says he's with someone else and not this gay guy, it's a queer conspiracy.

So basically, if one actor is not with the actor you'd like to slash him with, it's a conspiracy? It's all one big giant plot to break the hearts of slashers everywhere?

Sounds like you've already got the hang of it :D

Though in a weird way QaF RPS makes a little more sense than Domlijah, in as much as Gale and Randy are *very* convincing in playing a gay couple (XD). But it's still like...wtf, people!? Separate fact and fiction, much? XP

meh, i don't get it either. i'm one of those bizarre hypocrites who'll happily slash uninvolved (and quite clearly straight) celebrities like there's no tomorrow, but would feel rather... odd writing smut about people who are actually together.

i guess the element of fantasy is what makes rps so fun, in my mind. we don't need no stinkin' real couples!

Wait a second.

Are they serious?!

I got into G/R RPS against my will (LOTR RPS scares me...) and the general consensus I gathered from the authors's LJs was that they didn't write it because Brian and Justin are omgsoinlove, but because they seemed to have good chemistry off screen. No one seemed to believe they were actually a couple, but they were having fun pretending they were. (At least, talking about writing stories in which a 12-year old Gale meets 4-year old Randy seemed very tongue-in-cheek to me...). I thought they were also mocking Randy's boyfriend Simon Lastname?, because they mock everything else... As someone else pointed: mocking because they can write G/R smut with or without pictures of Simon Lastname?.

And hey, tin hats could be useful if used for good and not evil. They could make tin hats that covered the head completely, so the user would live not hearing/seeing/(smelling?) anything that contradicted their OTP, thus living happily ever after without bothering anyone (since the tin hat would also cover their mouth).

RPS, while personally finding it bizarre, I get the fantasy element of it (well, not with Gale Harold, who besides being one of the most appallingly bad actors on the planet, is hardly my idea of an attractive man). However, what gives me the willies are those groups of squealing teenagers, and pissed off housewives (I mean *honestly*....do you see any blokes online behaving that way?) who start flapping about wanting to hurt the real life partner/girlfriend etc., who throws a spanner, so to speak into their grand dream. Ye gawds! I mean, some of them are reallyhonestlytruly upset over all of this. Christ, can't the poor bastard have a shag in peace these days? With a real live *homosexual* no less, and not some obsessed fan's idea of one?

I keep waiting for one of them to end up on the ten o clock news in a segment entitled, Fans: When Obsession Leads To Murder. This story, coming up next.

A good dose of reality wouldn't go amiss for the little darlings every now and again.

in our defense:

i know there are all kinds of conspiracy theorists on our board. people who read too much into too little. SAME as on EVERY fanboard.

as for members of our board...there indeed may be a couple of vocal types who go to every board causing trouble.

these people do have an agenda, its called trolling. they want to get people upset. they may not even necessarily believe what they are saying they just want to stir people up. they join every board.

what they do is not what we encourage on any board. that is not our purpose nor our Modus Operandi. that much should be obvious from basic reading comprehension, which i know you possess.

i dont claim to know hard facts about clay's relationships, but i do know that homophobia in clay's internet fandom was and is out of control. we created a place where there was refuge from that, where reasonable ppl with eyes and brains in their heads can say what they really think about mr aiken's many colorful "differences" in peace, without fear of banishment or censorship.. which was occurring right and left on the other boards til we came along.

just becuz our foil is pink does not make us any more or less sick than any other board. nor does it make us any less his fan. we're the ones who think gay is cool.. and there is no reason to apologise or defend that.

you are welcome to lurk at our board.. i am the mod there. so please go back and read MY posts and ask yourself if i am an unreasonable, illogical person. ask yourself if i really come off like a whimsical flake who doesnt hold plausible reasoning or opinions.

answer that truthfully, in your heart of hearts, misswindy. and then hit me back at my lj. i enjoy your point of view in the communities, but imho you do often tend to miss the forest for the trees.
