Oh wow, first time wanking, I feel so honoured, oh yes.

furry_politics on LJ is an interesting place. The idea of the group is that furries can debate the politics of the day...but it is the members that are the more interesting than the actual politics. Here we have some sort of civil war in progress, between the right-wing American Bushite furries, and the liberal left-wing British furries. And every single one of the buggers is trying to piss the other side of as well as they can. What is wanky, however, is that these are people who debate their politics, human politics, while saying they are animals. Shouldn't they be going on about packs? Anyway.

Here posts the Glorious Leader - he shows a tendancy to dislike "witty banter." He also invokes that law that I just can't remember about abusing your dictionary for no point at all. Someone remind me?

However, it is when the problem of the posibility of aborting homsexual foetuses raises its ugly head that the fur starts to fly. (Intentional punning, kill me quickly). Cue the wondering about baby gaydar, the admittance that the post has been edited, and accusations of trolling.

Very little wank, I know, but then the entire community when added together as a concept is an entire spoogerific idea, which sorts of oozes between posts.

Whenever furry-wank shows up here, I yearn for one of those "you're making my side look stupid" icons. I swear not all furries are that wanky and crazy...

Why do furries need a special place to discuss politics?

I mean, can't they just discuss furry in a furry community and discuss politics in a political community?

Or have I missed something, and should I be joining slash_politics, manga_politics, figure_skating_politics, users_of_windows_politics and what not? If I suddenly became a furry, would my opinion on gay fetuses change?

Genuinely boggled ...

The funny part is that even if there were/is a slash_politics I bet both sides still get in huge arguments about the gay marriages thing.

I suppose it's a place to talk Pollytiks where no one can play the "but dude, you pretend you're a fox" card, and so take the argument onto newer and shinier irrelevant levels.

Not that this wank doesn't have new and shiny levels of it's own, of course.

I've heard that Hancock actually drew a little heart and wrote "Kawaii!!!" in kanji after his name, but it was edited out for the English version. *nods seriously*

Anyone can join this place and discuss wank. I'm guessing (from some of your icons and what not) that you're involved with furry. I'm involved with Japanese comics. Other people here are involved with slash, some others with het, some with mpreg, some with musicians, etc. etc.

furry_politics is like having slahers_wank, manga_readers_wank, mpreg_fans_wank and so on. I would understand furry_politics if what they discussed were political things that affected furry specifically (this is what I originally thought the comm was about), but that's apparently not the case. I can't see why furries should have a comm to discuss general politics; it seems to me the things they discuss might as well be discussed in a general political comm. I mean, does your fascination with furry animals have any significance on what you think about, say, the war on terror?

Not to say furries can't have that community. I don't particularly care. It just doesn't make much sense to me.

Re:

Well, for one thing, it was insulting to all furries everywhere, conveying a rather sneering tone that suggested if you're furry, it's ridiculous to believe you could have anything to contribute to a discussion about politics.
It's not quite the same as, but somewhat akin to, saying "What is wanky, however, is these are people who debate world events, non-black events, while saying they are black. Shouldn't they be discussing gangs? Anyway."
Surprisingly enough, and I know this may rock your worldview, but it is not wanky for people who are different from you or have different interests to HAVE OPINIONS ON THINGS. The whole reason the group was probably created was because of wankers like you who, in a political discussion, would say "Look, you're pretending you're a fox, I'm not going to bother to pay attention to anything you say, because it's silly."
Perhaps a more apt comparison than the above one is that that bit of your post here, well, most of it, would be like finding a group called "Transgender_Politics", and mocking them for daring to have political views while "pretending to be another gender".

Oh, dear. The OP, incidentally, is one of the wankiest people on the face of the internet. He once accused me of being an anti-semite and a skinhead for jokingly invoking Godwin's Law on one of his fits of hyperbole. I think he compared some minor elfwood mod to Hitler. He compares everything to Hitler.

At the timee I was dreadfully annoyed, but now...well, he compares EVERYTHING to Hitler, and ANYONE who disagrees with him is an anti-semite, so I don't see any reason to be offended by his implications. Heh.
