Fiction Alley is Full of Hypocrites!
TigressPern posts a fic to Fiction Alley. The fic is rejected, and the author complains about it in a steam-venting post.

Anonymous poster shows up to criticize the spelling and grammar in her rant.

Another poster shows up to criticise her reading skills.

Another Anonymous shows up to bitch about Fiction Alley.

Odds are the wank will continue to grow.

ETA: OP is now locked, but, the wankiness does ensue ... here in these comments. Fastest mobilization of a sock puppet army ever, to defend against my cruelty in OMG even posting this here!!!1!!!11!! Lighten up. I was wanking on the commenters, not the OP, and I knew it was a slooooooow wank day if this was the best I could find. But you anon socks have made the whole thing vastly more entertaining than I ever could have hoped.

And more linkies.

If it's major wank you're looking for, the Tolkien fandom's Mithril Awards for fanfiction are starting up again. The wank! My eyes!

Wank? That is a work of art. And mine brain doth grow from such wisdom.

*ohmmmmmm ohmmmmm*

Not the holy grail of wank either but it was worthy of reading, if solely for this gem:

...and Tolkien would not have used fairly modern American slang words such as "dick" when referring to hobbit genitalia.

*snickers*

Later that evening, the professor locked himself up in the bathroom, fervidly uttering his favorite Quenya and Adûnaic slangwords for hobbit genitalia.

I'll have to remind myself (again) not to drink tea whilst reading comments. *wipes screen*

I followed the link and ended up signing up for the LOTR class and joining her discussion community. ^_^

Actually, the narrative is translated from Westron to English anyway. So any macs could very well have been translated to dick, or any slang term common in 1910-1950 rural England. You can get away with a lot more when dealing with the hobbits, like comparing something to an express train, for instance.

That's the most beautifully constructed sentence in the entire book, in my opinion.

I think you're right, actually.

...

Damn, now I'll have to try to think of a better one.

See, the problem with the Mithril Awards people is that they may be pompous and wanky but they are also stuffy, dusty, and boring as all fuck. It's like wanking a waxwork figure of Winston Churchill.

Yup. I thought of posting some of the stuff on them, but then realised that halfway through I would have had to drill a hole in my skull to let the boredom out.

Singe sings! "Kookaburra sits in the old gum treeeeee, merry, merry KING of the woods is he! Laugh, kookaburra, laugh, kookaburra, laugh in your old gum tree!"

It's a song-round and American kid-scouts sing it around the campfire until their scout-masters break out the chainsaws.

It's actually an Australian folk song. Those bloody kookaburras laugh at daybreak, you see, and it's a imitation of how annoying that is.

Australian wildlife, poisonous, annoying or just plain dumb. What's the deal with the platypus anyway?

Oh, I know it's an Australian song, I just said that Americans sing it.

But I can't answer your platypus question. No one can. They've got poisonous spurs on their back legs, fer chrissakes...

I can't believe I'm about to google a girl scout song.

The song goes Kookaburra sits in the old gum tress merry merry king of bush you see.

I might have some of the words wrong its been years since I've sung it all the way through.

Returning your favor :)

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, kookaburra, laugh, kookaburra
Gay your life must be

There are more verses, but I will not go look them up. One verse running through my head is enough, hee.

Oooh! My only excuse is that I haven't had my coffee this morning. I should've gotten that reference, considering that was my favourite song that my mother sang to me, and the reason I chose that fandom name. Heheheh...

The gum tree is very well, thank you.
