Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood:E-V-O-L

I can't deal with my fandom any longer.
I know all I do is X-Files wank and this is more of the same, but my brain tends to leak out of my ears when I read some of the crap that goes on in the name of my former fandom.

Today's fun starts on this thread on DDFanatics. Or as I like to call it, the Cow Pasture. Seems our pals Pippy and Mulderpause are going to stalk go see Duchov at the Tribeca Film Festival where his v.v. personal masterpiece that will for sure win him is much deserved Oscar (TM) House of D is going to premiere.

Elsewhere on the same board Pippy (who made friends with "Zelda Williams" - or more likely a person claiming to be Robin Williams' daughter Zelda - on the IMDb boards for HOD et al cackle as only fanatical fans can at the silly gillys who show up every night at the stage door of Gillian Anderson's latest play. I especially love Ms. P's remark:

OY! and some of them have the nerve to talk about DD fans being stalkers

Please also note the very interesting post from our own dearest Cow:

I have a dumb excuse for not going to NYC. I don't fly. I used to hop on planes all the time without thinking, but not anymore. I don't have a fear of crashing. I just don't like to be confined in (or on) anything I can't get out of.

I have an even dumber excuse for not going to see DD when he was filming RTM. David was living and working about 30 miles away from me for 2 months, but I had cronic "bad hair day". I wanted to see him, but I didn't want him to see me.....as if

Hmmm, Duchov's biggest fan isn't 'able' to go see him because she is claustrophobic and has bad fur hair?

Even one of her co-moos calls her on it:

DD was filming practically at your back door and you didn't go because of "bad hair?" Girl ... put on a Yankees baseball cap and go!! He'd have loved it.

This all supports my theory that there is a restraining order against Ms. MooCow.

Elsewhere in the pasture there are complaints that the very negative review of Connie & Carla the newest Nia Vardalos disaster movie, in the Village Voice is written by an unhappy, mean, bitter, jealous man. I'm sure David Ng, who wrote the review, will be receiving some nasty badly written emails. And he won't give a shit.

This phenomenon of trashing critics has been pointed out with much fanfare and wank over on The Snoggers Sanctum Board.

And to bring us full circle (to the truth) Pippy and those DDFans who are left on the Haven for the FBI's most deluded go over the EVOL V.V. review and as an extra added special bonus bemoan the fact that Bob DD has not yet appeared on the show that is the paragon of good taste

these people are seriously out of hand, and very VERY creepy.

I mean, its one thing for me to go through Jenifer Garner's trash and camp out in her driveway, but these people are nuts!

And it just keeps on coming. Here Alfornos (otherwise known as the press rep for the Haven as all she/he does is post article after article, after article...) posts a Variety article about the power of fandoms in saving or resurrecting shows that mentions the ad they put in the Hollywood Reporter begging for a new movie.

What the not-to-smart denizens of the Haven don't get is this quote:

Despite symbolic victories, however, the louder and more shrill these voices become, the less influence they often possess.

is exactly what they are doing and what they sound like.

Further down in the thread Unbound puts his two cents in. For those of you who don't know who UB is, picture a sports reporter from the middle of Nowheresville, USA who self-published a crappy tome about the XF and is revered and lurved by all the little fangirls and boyz. And is now the expert on everything entertainment and everything XFs.

Also the Pipster turns up again and again on the MB for Connie & Carla over at the IMDb to tell enlighten one and all how wonderful the movie is and how mean the critics are who give it a bad review. Oh and also how everybody who opinions that it's a bad rip-off of Some Like it Hot, Victor/Victoria, Too Wong Foo, and every other drag queen movie ever made are WRONG! And BAD! And simply don't have to see the movie but shouldn't say anything negative about it EVA.

Awwww, this post makes me go all nostalgic. Alfornos and Unbound!

I don't think a lot of these people know the meaning of the world "shrill." Many of them seem to shriek like dental drills 24/7.

Oh, god...Unbound...::facepalms:: I think the best thing about his little self-published book is that it is only published, like, ON DEMAND. So it doesn't get put together unless some poor soul buys one.

Also, who the hell puts "Featuring the Reviews of Unbound I" in the title of their flaming piece of crap masterpiece, anyway? From now on, I'm going to just title everything of mine with my frickin' HAVEN name in it, yes.

Alfornos?

The same Alfornos who has been posting on X-Files related groups on USENET and the Web since God was a child?

Alfornos, who posts information and press releases about projects that anybody associated with the X-Files was involved in kinda like Cleolinda does for LOTR? That Alfornos?

What's wanky about Alfornos?

Ah well, the people who don't hang around stalking/trashing the stars aren't the crazy ones, right? Right?

NYC is a mere 4 hour train trip from my house. I can't go see David Duchovney there because I don't care.

Fox Mulder's apartment is only about a mile from my house. I haven't been there because he's fictional.

I think I'm clearly a bad xfiles fan

I fully admit I get very wanky myself when it comes to the XF, I can't help it - I think Chris Carter/1013/FOX put a subliminal message in the DVDs that creates wank.

But just so you have the full story - the woman who posts as Jamie Sands is a notorious XF troll who has gone by many names, Cow, MooCow and other bovine references are among her more famous aliases.

I have to say I have a hard time seeing anything Cow & Co. do in their usual haunts as wanky any more. I mean, they've been pulling the same crap in the same places for years now. Sure, it's clearly wanky when they move it to some new place, or when New And Different events occur (like the ad stuff getting kicked out of Haven).

But really: Is it still true wank if it's the same old stuff being rehashed for the nine millionth time, on the board(s) you created specifically to house your own wankiness? Discuss.

If going into New York for one day to see House Of D is stalking then i guess i'm guilty. If going out to eat with friends after the film is stalking then again guilty as charged. If then getting on a train and going back to Phila for me and New Jersey for my friend is stalking welllllllllll.......... i think you get it. You don't know what the heck you're talking about for one thing. No one is stalking. We are going like many people to enjoy the film and meet up with other online fans.
