HP Arrogance
First post, but IMO this is wanky for the sheer arrogance. In summary, FA head honcho, Heidi squees over her site being nominated for a Webby. While recognizing FA probably won't win she adds the following:

Of course, we're up against LiveJournal and Friendster, but as I just wrote in an email to bradfitz, if FictionAlley, for some bizarre reason, actually wins, it's a victory for LJ as well, because LJ really is a part of FA's community - hence, things like fiction_alley!

Yeah, so every single LJer is a FA member. Not to mention that LJ is where most of the wank can be found.

...where the hell did she get the idea that LJ was just an FA offshoot? Besides being around for twice as long (or thereabouts; I sort of lost contact with HP fandom for a year and a half), LJ can eat FA for breakfast.

My LJ is in Spanish.
FA doesn't have a section in Spanish.
Actually, I never visit FA. Its navigation is a nightmare.

I never heard of FA until F_W (sorry, not an HP fan), but LJ cuts across all fandoms, interests, etc. This woman has the arrogance to compare her site to LJ? WTF?

I don't think FAP stands a snowball's chance in hell but it is the first fanfic site to get a nod in the Webbys so that has to count for something (not a lot - but something ...:D).

At a guess, I'd say that LJ will take both the 'proper' award and the People's Choice - it's already way out in front in the popular vote and I think that it's come along in terms of design to make it easy for even internet twits like me to use it.

Maybe it's the Brit in me, but I think it's good to just take part ...

In any event, HP helps to feed into LJ success just like American Idol and Simple Life and Star Trek and all the other fandoms and interests and politics groups do and in turn, people come to FAP (and SQ and other fandoms and communities) through LJ links. Oooh - it's like being interconnected in a big web (or something)
