Actual religious pseudo-wank!
(Like an idiot, I accidentally posted this to my JF first.)

I'm still not sure whether this is more pathetic than funny, but I feel the need to have people join me in the pointing and laughing. Not so much a fandom thing as amusing religious indignation that sort of gets barely within viewing distance of the border of fandom. However, it is quite wanky.

Oh my blank! Buffy is MOCKING Christianity! We were so offended we couldn't even watch enough of the episode to know what we're talking about! If this were any other religion they'd be getting in SOOOOO much trouble, but we're so victimized! All the time! It's always us!

(Oh yeah, spoilers for the most recent episode, if you're avoiding that sort of thing.)

'cause, you know, gods forbid anyone ever perpetuate the concept of evil priests . . . who ever heard of such a thing? *really bad mock indignation look*

You just have to love Christian indignation. It's so much damn fun . . .

"Hollywood is going down that slippery slope of immorality," said Dave Lukens of the Dove Foundation, which tracks entertainment fare from a Christian perspective.

*just fucking dies laughing*

OMFG! Hollywood is becoming immoral! Who knew?! And why didn't they tell me? *rolls*

wickedelf had a good reply to that one here.

oh honey. Hollywood fell head over heels down that slope a long time ago and is now having a party at the bottom. Let's all go join, shall we?

Woe is Christians. They are always mocked and pushed to the margins of society. When will there ever be a country founded on Christian mores? Woe to you, Christians.

Didn't the Puritans try that already?

I think that the people who contributed to that article should go and live on an island somewhere within a little bubble that keeps them from all the mean, mean people in the world who scorn their beliefs.

the scary thing is that they're having some success in pressing forward with these beliefs in u.s. law.

Which is one thing that's fueling me to enter law, and at the same time, one that's making me consider staying in this country.

...

Meh.
