Some people lack a sense of humor.....
As many may know, Saturday Night Live aired a Harry Potter sketch last night. In my personal opinion, it was hilarious....it lampooned every bad HP fic scenario out there. And the majority of the rest of the fans found it hilarious.

Then there are those few that were "offended" by the skit...

Mugglenet.com posted news about the skit, and in the comments, there are a few people who get all snippy about how the skit was inappropriate and in bad taste. There seem to be a few comments that have been deleted since I read it earlier, but you can bet this spills over into the other hot spots in the HP fandom.

It was cute, in the way that it seemed the authors had either read a few badfics and/or parodies, or are much smarter than I'm giving them credit for. If I hadn't seen this very same scenario in a bunch of intentional (and not) humour fics out there, I'd have found it much funnier. As it was, I was muttering "cliché!" under my breath half the time. ;)

Behold the wanky comments, though.

ok, i just typed a whole (insert bad word here) novel for my comment, and it was refused cause i used "net speak"? how pathetic has this place gotten? are they going to make us use proper grammer and spelling next? --> please tell me this is a troll. *sob*

inappropriate and in bad taste

Eh? What were they expecting? It was an SNL skit, not an homage. SNL is known for tasteless and/or peurile humor that isn't meant for OMG!teh children. The only thing that annoyed me (and added to the humor at the same time) was that Hermione placed the magnifying glass over her boobs the book, then proceeded to read the spell from a teleprompter off to one side. Oh, and Snape's hair was way too clean.

it lampooned every bad HP fic scenario out there

Hee, for that alone, it gets a gold star.

But, if the plot of your uber-fic resembles the plot of the sketch, I can almost understand why you didn't. Alas, in that case, your fic is probably not very good, but no one wants to hear that.

this is the funniest take on the "hermione/emma's gotten too hot" debate ever

I'm speechless.

Ohhh, yes. Observe:

http://www.fictionalley.org/fictionalleypark/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39811 (href)

It starts off mostly as Emma!Wank, but the Well-dang-she-doesn't-have-buck-teeth-so-she-can't-play-Hermione! stuff picks up steam by page 3. And I also just love that a poster on said page 3 gets a mod smackdown for bad grammar just one post after someone refers to Emma Watson as a "plastic biatch" -- and the mods leave that one completely alone.

I do like FAP, but often I'm not really sure why ...

I thought it was a great skit, extremely funny. Lindsey Lohan played a good Mary Sue Hermione and I must say that she has a nice rack.

The hotspot in HP right now seems to be how people are going batshit over the fact that Hermione stole one of Ron's lines in the trailer. I have seen some irate, ranty LJ posts and it seems that they want the screenwriter dead or burned at the stake.

You all must have pretty pathetic lives to wank on these two people who have done much more for Fandom than any of you have ever done.

All you do is sit around and bitch and moan about other people.

It truly truly is sad.

You know what. I feel the same way. Yes,Ron does get robbed and made into comic relief.

But it's really sad that you all are so pitiful that you would sit around and make fun of it.

Why don't you make your own friends instead of snooping through people who you don't know post!

I'm sick to death of all the hateful things that get said in this fandom.

If you don't like a story or pairing don't read it.
If you don't like what someone is saying say it to that person.

But don't post in a journal about how much better you all are because in reality you are worse than the original poster.

ARe your lives soooo sad that all you can do is make fun of people's writing and make fun of their feelings?

Pitiful truly truly pitiful.

Annie

Well, yeah, but this particular screenwriter has been associated with all three films while the directors have changed. And Hermione has gotten big lines from both Dumbledore and Ron in previous films. If you're inclined to wank about changed lines*, I think it's reasonable to blame the screenwriter in this case, as the common element.

*I'm not.
