The anime series Fullmetal Alchemist has been liscensed by Funimation.

And the crowd goes WILD. Many people are crying! Many lives are OVER AS WE KNOW IT! Someone suggests an official "death day" for the series! All in all, anime fans at their very elitist best.

The minute I saw FMA was licensed, I hurried right over to that comm to see if there was wank. Sweet FMA community, you didn't let me down. (Because remember children, licensing is eviiil! And they're going to butcher the series and take out all the deeper themes and give everyone horrible voices and I'm absolutely sure of that even if they haven't even started dubbing it yet!)

Hmm...I'm not sure what the hell is going on. Half of my flist is fm_a entries, and E3 (where it was supposedly announced) doesn't start until today (the expo starts tomorrow).

I wouldn't be surprised if FMA was picked up, though. It's one of those series that's popular enough on its own that I'm surprised that no one's gotten it yet, if it's not actually licensed by Funi.

Still...God, I love my fandom. Though, I don't think there's enough bishieness in FMA to cause the Inuyasha holocaust again.

My only worry is that my college's anime club just picked FMA as next semester's preshow, and I don't know if we can show it now, or if we can get away with showing fansubs in the club until it's actually released. And I don't really want to go to the runner-up, because FMA is love.

Has anyone noticed that in anime fandoms, the wank increases exponentially after it's been released (not just from the announcement, but from the influx of new fans)?

That makes me very afraid for FMA. Ed will be covered with spooge, and it won't be entirely the yaoifen's doing.

Oh thank God. I was hoping someone else would report that wank. I reeeeeally wanted to, but I didn't want people to think I was trolling the comm just to find wank. XD

The real classic is this one, methinks. One person says "STFU", and an adorable little anonymouse attempts being snarky, and when someone else jumps in to defend the original poster, the anonymouse says "squeak squeak I dun haffa poste my name ifn I dun want 2!" then goes "omg I r so sorree dun hate me :(".

And the biggest reason all dem bitches are screaming is because their blessed fansub supply might be cut. Once it was determined it wouldn't, they're all quickly trying to find some other thing to complain about for cover.

Whee, they're so amusing.

Is it just me or is the original post kind of...um...stupid? "Why is FMA listed as being licensed?" Um...because...it's been licensed. This is a difficult concept somehow?

I also like the people ranting about how the conventions are going to be full of FMA cosplayers. Um...they're ALREADY full of FMA cosplayers. Went to Katsucon. Couldn't go five feet without tripping over short men in red coats. Quite frankly, I think I'm GLAD that cons'll be full of FMA cosplayers - FMA costumes almost all require some work put into them. Good costumes are nice. Crappy Naruto-style ninja wannabes are boring.

Sheesh, I WANT my favorite series licensed so I can have DVDs with gorgeous video quality and good subs. Yes, I will have to pay for it, but... SHOCK! Supporting the creators of anime and manga is a GOOD THING, people. Good thing. Not bad thing.

My friend Shiva announced the news to me this morning. After shuddering for a second at the implications, we started laughing because there is a pretty good chance that "Tai" will be cast to voice Ed. Which Tai, you ask? The voice actor who played Tai in season 1 and 2 of Digimon. It's hard to watch anything dubbed nowdays without tripping over him. He's in Wolf's Rain as Kiba's brown-haired friend, the leader in that Cyber 9 anime on CN (was that the name?), etc. If Tai voices Ed (or Al), we'll just need "Miaka" to be Winry. Miakia played Miakia in Fusghi Yuugi, Lain in Lain, the whiny girl in season 4 of Digimon, etc. Gah. I've just been waiting for "Tai" and "Miakia" to meet up in the same season of the same show.

This is why we need more voice actors and they need more respect....

I'll admit I flipped out a little last night when I learned who liscensed it, since I haven't gotten around to seeing it and I wanted to before it got liscensed, but then my level-headed friends explained that there will be subs on DVD. So all is good.

But seriously? They're going WAY overboard. Next Inuyasha....*snort* I haven't seen an explosion of Witch Hunter Robin or Wolf's Rain teenybopperness yet, and they've gone through WHR twice, right? Geez.

And wank_reporter again? WTF is up with this guy/girl? Don't they have a life?

But whenever a popular fansubbed series is liscenced, there can and will always be at least 10-25 fans who throw a fit. It's amusing and annoying at the same time. Yes, some dubs can be really bad *coughCardCaptorscough*, or really good with the exception of bad voices (Kuwabara in Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Tomo in Fushigi Yuugi, and Mimu in Idol Project). And sometimes, the TV dubs have come up with really weird stuff. *points to her icon* But this is why they make bilingual DVDs! So the sub purists and the fans who would prefer not to stare at subtitles can all be happy!

EDIT: "wank_reporter"? What the hell? What an asshole.

...Who? O_o; Is that some sort of wank cop or something, or a tattletale who notifies a place they've been wanked, or a fandom_wank copy?
