w00t, my first wankage...
Okay, there's this Harry Potter message board, in which there are many general discussion boards. In the main GD board, someone posts a picture of seemingly giant spiders. There are many exclamations of surprise about the spiders, as well as a few stories (either urban-legendish or personal spider stories). Someone finally posts a link to actual information on the spiders, in addition to naming the dread horrors (it turns out that they're called sun/camel spiders). Another person posts a different link to more info. And on it goes until the very bottom of the second page of the post, when someone going by the name of TimeTravel_02 repeats something that has already been stated at least once, namely the name and breeding habits of the spiders.

On the next page, someone going by CS makes a sarcastic comment (which is normal, business-as-usual), and the topic goes on to talk about other randomly spider-related stuff. That is, until the TimeTravel_02 person decides to randomly attack CS, in the fourth page, a full page and a half after the original comment. Thus, the beginning of the first flamewar on the relocated Harry's Forums.

TimeTravel_02's post is ignored for two more posts, until one called Skorpion defends CS. Three other veterans of the board come to her rescue before she has a chance to defend herself (on that same page). The flames are continued by TimeTravel_02, with spider-related posts inbetween, followed by an in-depth analysis of the post count and custom titles of the opposing two (namely, TT_02 and CS) from Skorpion. One more spider post, and the flames continue onto the entire fifth page, during which it comes to light that TT_02 has been banned before, and at some point CS quits the fight (or so she says...*dun dun dunnnnn*).

The sixth page is much the same, except TT_02 is banned. There was rejoicing. However, TimeTravel_02 is reincarnated as timetravel_03, who is also banned. S/he returns again as timetravel_04, and CS can't help but to add one more comment. Skorpion suggests ignoring him/her, and two more people disregard this and add their comments (including a somewhat graphic visual from Soldier of the Damned).

On the next page, Soldier of the Damned is congratulated on his imagery, and the flames against TT_0# continue for a wee bit of time until the post finally disentegrates into a mini-discussion of food.

"Openflame" is definitely an apt name for that board!

Wow, the the argument: You are new, while I am 'The Slash Queen, so I am right' is still being used?

Pretty idiotic.

" of which there are many, many dialects, most of which are likely individual-based"

So if I chose to create a new dialect using Japanese/Chinese and German words, would that be okay?

CS is being the much wankier person here, I think. Banning someone for this?

And that the mods ban him/her is okay, but they don't even warn all the people calling someone scumbag etc.

Nice forum...

Well, if Koyasu can do it, I guess anyone can.

The "I BEEN HERE LONGER!" dick measuring is cute. Granted, TT_0# was in idiot, but you can sit on a board and post everyday for months and and still be an idiot. You'd just be an idiot with a bigger dick post count.

Uhm... you wouldn't be Skorpion, would you? I suppose the megatokyo fandom isn't that small, but it's hard to find two fans "involved" in the same flamewar. If so, [info]i_wank. If not, sorry.

The one that I happen to use not only includes expressions like "booyaka" (which, by the way, came from Final Fantasy VIII, not from AAVE, aka "ebonics")

Wow, I wonder if the rappers back in the 80's that I watched on MTV know this piece of information.

Bad things happen to newbies who pick fights with veterans

Yes, very bad things. *looks around shifty-eyed*

ew ew ew ew ew ew why did I go there ew bugs ew ew ew

I'd like to add a gag, a full-body shudder, and a rubbing of the eyes to ineffectually try to blanche the sight from memory to that, thanks.

Guh. I'm way too distracted by the bug to read the wank.
For what it's worth snopes has a little write up on this picture. (it's not really a spider btw)

~No, I'm not Skorpion.
~I've heard that the image was real, but that a lot of the stories that go with it (they're as big as weiner dogs, they eat camels, they only live in Iraq and not the States, etc.) are not. I don't particularly care either way, as long as I never ever see one. ;)
~As for the "booyaka" issue, I have no real response at all. I am not a fan of rap, so I don't personally know whether it originated there or not, but I'm willing to take y'all's word for it. ^.^
~And lastly, the spider-things: I wholeheartedly agree with the "ew ew ew" comments. Blegh :\

Camel spiders can traverse desert sand at speeds up to 25 MPH, making screaming noises as they run.

OK, spiders, I like spiders, even huge ones. The picture in the wank-thread didn't disturb me (though it looked fake). But a screaming spider? Dude, that would so freak me out.

And because I'm a sadistic fuck, for all you train-wreck people reading this, here's a thread with pics of giant pill-bugs (a.k.a "rolly-pollys"). It also has a pic of a weird parasite that replaces the tongue of a certain kind of fish. So, read and be squicked.

Tounge biter.... *shudder*

I remember seeing wind scorpions being sold in a local pet store years ago. I don't know if they still do that, because I want one. It's even freakier than a tarantula, but no venom.

I refuse to click on those links on the basis that the radio started playing 'Boris the Spider' as my eyes lit on this entry.

That and giant creepy crawlies make my skin do its own creepy crawly thing. I actually think small spiders are pretty in their own way. But we're talking normal-sized. Camel spiders? Behemoths that have no right to exist. At all. *twitchshudderspazz*
