Gaia wank is always fun, but I'm surprised that no one's mentioned Neopets wank. It's almost the same thing, except with cute fuzzy animals. It's spawned a lot of "tips" sites about how to play the games. One of them I hit occasionally is Neocolours, which is handy if you want to see all of the pet and colour options in one place. It sort of creeps me out, though, because the site seems to be maintained and frequented by adults. Adults who take their online Tamogotchi very, very seriously.

Lately the creative team at Neopets has been changing up lots of character designs. One of the designs being made over is the Lupe, a wolf/dog sort of critter. The site's maintainer is not pleased.

I could almost point to any of the news entires or forum posts as prime wank, but it's most obvious in the board for

it looks fucked! moehog owners won't be impressed. it's lost its deranged and crazy look.

Hey I like the new Moehog. Looks like something I'd own.

Do you also realise they are making neopets easier to draw for people.

And that's a crime how? Not everyone's an amazing artist y'know...

So far all the revamps heads are pretty circular. I know the older moehog was harder to draw but this ones head is to rund, like the faerie kougra's, lupes, poogles etc.

Geee... Many real animals have round heads. Nothing wrong there.

TNT: stop cutesifying neopets!
I shrieked when I saw the moehog revamp. Noone deserves to destroy good neopet characters just to make money out of them for a *younger* audience. Shame on you Neopets!

Uhm, Neopets is aimed at a younger audience. The fact that college students created it and adults play it doesn't change who the target audience is.

Shame on Neopets for actually gearing their site and the images on it for the kids the site was intended for!!

If you really want wank, go to the neopianrants comm at LJ. If it wasn't for the fact that it's 90% friends-only I'd be reporting it here.

Ha! I think the best part was where Ziggy took offence (http://www.neocolours.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9247&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75) to someone's comment that he/she didn't find the chubbier look of one of the pets to be cute, because she has OMG STRUGGLED. Especially amusing considering Ziggy made a comment in another one of the linked threads about how anorexic people would probably complain if a skinny brush was developed, and how you can't say anything honest these days without offending some hyper-sensitive person. Funny how that goes, Ziggy.

These people scare me.

Remind me to make a report the next time I see Gaians wanking about how Gaia is OMGSOSUPERIORTONEOPETS. (Which I think it is, in terms of fun for me personally, but not to the extent that it needs to be wanked over. o_O)

If you want some funneh, check out neopets' rp message boards. The purple prose will melt your eyeballs.

I work as an artist for Neopets during the summer, and getting to wade through the spooge is most definitely one of the high points of the job. After a few months you slowly begin to realize that they may indeed want you to revamp the pet, but whatever you do end up drawing will be terribly, terribly WRONG.

The current highlights of my 3 years there are:
- the grown man on PinkPT.com who planned a road trip to the Neopets office in Glendale with his online buddies, only to later provide some lame excuse and 'touching story' about not making it and learning something about himself along the way. Or his spirit animal. Whatever.
- the plushie ixi design, that is, this thing...
Image
...being labeled as a 'Complete Travesty.'

Ah, the joys of neocolours... Once the users realized we began watching their little asses they became nicer (to an extent), but we still upload really horribly-drawn things just get them heated on occassion.

I don't play Neopets much anymore, but whenever I see they've done a pet revamp I feel the need to go visit message boards just to watch the wank. It's always so beautiful. "It's too cutesy!" "It's not to my exact taste and specifications the way it should be!" "How dare they change the pets they created and can do whatever they want with!" "My pussy hurts!" I remember one person way back when they first starting making pets over talking about how Neopets would soon go under because all the adults would leave due to the over-cutesy makeovers and therefore everything should be changed back at once (because, y'know, it's not like any kids play Neopets. Oh no, not at all) and one person wishing she could take Neopets to court if her pet got a makeover. It was hilarious.

Man, I always want to report the massive wank I see on the main site's boards, but since they move so fast, there's no way to link it. And with replies spanning into the thousands, no way am I going to screenshot it all!

I shudder to think how they're going to redo Chias. People already hate them, even though they're big cuddly pillow-like creatures with little stems... (eggplants? Tomatoes? Something like that...) I named mine after Datirimon, the cutest widdle unripe tomato in the Digital World...

...wait, I just mentioned Digimon and Neopets in the same thread. Does that count as crossing the wank streams, or...?

Nostalgia! *sniffles* My cousin tried to get me into Neopets, and I was sucked in. (Mainly because at the time, their Flash!Mastermind game didn't have a Neopoint cap, and I could get 3000 Neopoints in the one playthrough. Hee.) In fact, I'm kind of left to wonder if there was whining when Neopets decided to start making toys...

As for the wank... well, words fail me. I guess cute internet images do strange things to people.

I love neopets. I haven't fed my pets in about a year, but since they always say "dying" but never die I don't care. Food is expensive, damnit. And I enjoy getting free stuff and selling it off for massive amounts of np which I think hoard away to collect interest and never spend.

I also get my friends to turn over their abandoned usernames and passwords so I can raid their accounts.

Ah, Neopets. I started playing a good 4-5 years ago (don't even remember) but I got bored of it a long time ago. From time to time I get sucked in again but inevitably get bored again.

There IS lots of wank, though. Bleh. It can be amusing, but gets irritating after awhile.
