Even more Amy Player/Victoria Bitter/Jordon Wood
I usually just lurk, but ran across this at Metafilter today, a (for those of you who haven't seen it) very varied website with around 17,000 members dealing with anything and everything (think of a higher-class version of Fark) and now, apparently, the entire Amy Player/Victoria Bitter/Jordon Wood broo-ha-ha. Not so many comments yet (many seem confused by the entire thing, understandably), but should be interesting to see what the responses are going to be.....

Less epic???

I couldn't believe that! This is at least as epic, and not only that but half the characters have mutliple names to make it even more confusing. Geez, Turin diddling his sister can't even COMPARE to VB electronically dying, returning as a man, dying again (via snail mail this time), returning as a Californian, and pretending to die IRL to the tune of a short stay in the locked ward. Too bad they didn't lose the key on the last time. The tragedy of missed opportunities ("less epic" my behind!)

Hmmmm - I would argue for melodrama - and not epic saga.

She returned as an Oregonian first, much to my dismay.

Though, actually, had it not been for her stint here in Portland, [info]dine and I wouldn't have met and fallen in love and had many snarky babies become good friends. We decided to build a fort, you see, in which to hide from teh_crazy in our fair town. The fort never got built, alas, but since she's gone, it's a moot point now.

No pun intended.

Is that icon from Mad Magazine, and if, so, is it an issue still on the newsstands?

Yes, it's from Mad Magazine (I do love their artists!) but the issue is long off the shelves. Not sure if you can backorder it. There are excerpts online here. Hope that helps.

I was wondering if that would make its way back here. I can't quite believe it showed up on MeFi.

Of course, not everyone there is replying smartly. One person dismisses all fanfic because the HP movies didn't inspire him to write sex about 12-year-olds. Bitch, please. I'd reply, but I'm such a newbie at MeFi that I don't want to cause a fuss.

Any idea when that'll be open again? It's been ages, it seems.

They reopened for two days in April, the 1st and 2nd. I got in on the 2nd, but only because the script broke and about 150 of us got in instead of the 20 that were supposed to. So I don't think Matt is opening it up again anytime soon. Sorry. :(

I'll think about posting a reply.

Can any LJ fandom insiders tell me what some of the jargon in these articles means? Like "slashing" "JournalFen" "fields of wank and pools of spooge" (dare I ask?) etc?

*blinks* All of the information in the edited post and he picks my response to get confoozled by? WTF?

How freaky to see someone not just viscerally understand what I might have meant by fields of wank and pools of spooge.

Of course, I don't suppose I can ask anyone to know what the hell I'm talking about when I've come off of a 10 hour shift and my feet hurt, but my widdle story wasn't *that* hard to process was it?

*cries crystalline crocodile tears*

And needing a definition for spooge? Wanka I might have understood...

My tears are pastede on! Yay!

I've been wondering all along, does this have anything to do with her "first" boyfriend being Australian?

Heyas, I've a question for all of you who are more familiar with this particular wankage. Yeah yeah, I'm sorta new here, mostly I lurk and occasionally fangirl all over someones icon.

Anyway my question is:

Reportedly, this girl's parents filed a missing person's report, right? Have they been notified that their daughter really isn't missing but is just batshit insane?

(Reply to this)(Thread)

Oh, yeah, I filled them in...

...and Daddy's first reaction was to call up his darling angel and tell her he'd help her get out of the Tentmoot mess. Actually, the whole story is this: Det. Myers of the Sheriff's office tracked Amy down in LA literally DAYS after they left Oregon. I didn't have a number for them when they first moved down there because they were looking for an apartment, so Det. Myers called (drumroll please) SEAN ASTIN to see if HE knew where Those Two could be reached. Can't you just imagine the look of pleasure on Sean's face when he gets a call from the bleeping Sheriff in BuffaloDung, Oregon, looking for the "directors" of his pet charity? Eventually Myers got a number for Those Two and did some sort of conference call with her parents and her. She apparently told them that she was not their daughter, she was a guy who resembled their daughter and this was all a wild goose chase that got started by a vicious ex-girlfriend (that would be Versaphile, I think)--in other words, she is sick and twisted enough to think that story would work on HER OWN PARENTS. Over the phone where they could hear her voice. She'd used it to explain this away to the BoE crowd but HELLOOOOOO? I think her own mom and dad would recognize her voice...

Well, apparently her parents were happy to know she wasn't dead (remember, they'd gotten a letter from her saying she was going to committ suicide and that's why they contacted the Sheriff in Oregon to find her), so they just kinda let her go on doing her thing. This all happened at the end of October last year. I didn't find out the truth until much later. Anyway, so then Tentmoot crashed and things got hairy and apparently Amy called up Daddy to bail her out. And he left a message on their phone to the effect that he would do so. He didn't realize that was actually Shopping Cart Bob's phone though, so Bob got that message. That's how I learned that Daddy was going to help make all the bad stuff go away. I still can't help but wonder if THAT was why Don Abar, the district attorney here in Oregon, dropped the charges against Amy--because Daddy Dearest is some sort of hotshot fireman in Virginia and maybe he pulled some strings that forced Don Abar to let Amy go. We'll never know the truth behind that one, I guess.

Before that, though, I sent her dad an email letting him know what Amy had done and that she owed me money for her activities. He never answered. A few days later I get the call from SC Bob telling me that Amy's dad has left this message for Amy on his voicemail. And a few days LATER, the charges on Amy were dropped by the DA.

The apple didn't fall far from the tree, guys.
