we put the "lash" in "popslash"
[info]marej asks who in lj you can't stand, and then makes it more fun by allowing anonymous comments. And all of popslash promptly loses its collective shit. Plus, somebody uses the word "disingenuous" in the VERY FIRST COMMENT! That's got to be some kind of record.

"Damn you for having so much disposable income, you fucking fat fake-bisexual bitch!!"

Also, from the opposition: "I don't allow mean anonymous comments, so your love will be forced to have a NAME! Quick, everybody show how above it all you are!!"

For the record, I commented in both. *g*

ETA: A collection of post-kerfuckle fallout. God, I love how EVERYBODY in this fandom feels the need to weigh in, even if they weren't mentioned or didn't take part! We're like the fuckin' Neighbourhood Watch, except we don't protect anybody!

McDuff doesn't understand that we hate him like we hate George Bush.

don't you mean: McDuff, as of yet, has not succeeded in grasping one elementary fact - namely, that the quantitiy and quality of our otherwise unparalleled animosity for him is in fact equal to the quantity and quality of vitriol directed against one George W. Bush? O what a loser.

The comment so nice you made it twice! I deleted the first one, if that's okay.

And now that I've said that -- ahahahahahhah!!! Fuck, you're right. Maybe we just haven't told it to him in a pedantic enough fashion for him to understand.

I am an English major. My main reason for living the passed two years has been reading and dissecting literature ranging from things written two thousands years ago to two years ago, and I am very, very good at it. Still, I could barely muck through the first post on Ian McDuff's LJ. I did comprehend the "Oh piffle, I'm so unconcerned about this 'hatefest' that I'll now spend an entire LJ entry talking about how unconcerned I really am" vibe, but his twisted syntax and utterly unnecessary use of so-called "college words" annoyed the hell out me. No one talks like that! No one! Eliot didn't talk like that, and at least he had more on his resume than some boyband fanfic to back him up.

‘I hate McDuff’ needs, it seems, no explanation. Res ispa, and all that. Good: we progress.

Jesus, how does anyone tolerate this guy for long periods of time?

Steph

It's even better when he starts lecturing about politics. And his fic is written like that, too.
