Since FoodNetwork is showing Iron Chef America: Battle of the Masters for the umpteen billionth time......

Some wanktastical wank going down at both the FoodNetwork message boards, as well as the Iron Fans Online message board. Seems that some wanker thinks that the Japanese Iron Chefs got shafted during the judging of the dishes.....and decides to start a PETITION to have the decisions reversed.

And then Chairman Kaga announces the theme ingredient: SPLOOGE!!!!! OMG my cuizeen iz pastede on yay!
Hear! Viewers call Iron Chef America racist!
See! Wankers fighting about how Bobby Flay is teh EVOL!

And then the wank de-volves into a FTV bashing of how they're showing ICA far too often.

Enjoy!.....I'm gonna go grab some trout ice cream and laugh 'til it comes out my nose!

I think the Japanese Iron Chef's ~did~ get a bit fucked over (except the Morimoto/Puck battle) though. < /spooge>. Damn, all my IC icons are over on LJ.

I think a lot of it has to do with the tastes people are used to. The original Iron Chefs still rely pretty heavily on traditional Asian flavours and ingredients and American celebrity judges are probably having a "wtf am I eating?" reaction at least a bit.

...yeah..but it's all even, I think. Because I'm sure we all recall moments on the Japanese Iron Chef where I judge would say, "This doesn't taste Japanese enough", or "This is truly Japanese! I love it!"...I mean, people are just gonna prefer tastes that are familiar to them.

...A half-Japanese girl I know had chocolate milk the first time in my presence. She could not stand it because the taste was so alien. Dunno if they have it over there or not, but I thought it was interesting...

I really do think that Batali/Sakai got a raw deal--granted, I didn't eat the food or anything, but their stuff looked a hell of a lot better than Bobby Flay's Blue Cornstravaganza (now with Morimoto sauce).

Also it was cute how they wuvved each other. OMGTHEIRLOVEISSOMEDITERANNEAN

Far too lazy to get an account for the food network boards, but I have to admit that I've always thought that Bobby Flay was a bit of an ass myself. The whole standing on the cutting board bit from his first battle against Iron Chef Japanese... *shakes head* Can we say ego? No wonder the Japanese tend to think Americans are loud and rude...we are.

I was so glad when Morimoto beat him that time around.

...I am such nerd. Eee.

Haha, yeah...that battle was a mix of OMGAMERICANPRIDE and...'Oh man I am ashamed of my country now'. Because I thought it was cool that there were spectators CHEERING, and they were all American. The Japanese side sat there like a bunch of rocks. I thought it was interesting that the American side was making it seem like a real sport, really getting into it...but perhaps I am a heathen.

But..the chopping board thing? Yeah.

As well as Backdraft and Glory. I've heard tales of Japanese tourists going through one of the studio tours and wondering why they were playing the Iron Chef music when they went through the Backdraft area. :)

I watched every episode of ICA, just for Alton Brown, and for Ted Allen at the end. /geek love

My mama and I had discussions about them bringing in other FTV chefs in to battle. Like Rachael Ray, who we decided wouldn't know what to do because she had more than half an hour to work with. (Not knocking Rachael, because I love her, but it was funny at the time). Or the Semi-Homemade Bimbo, who we decided would whine that they wouldn't let her use her shortcuts.

There is Iron Chef wank?! There are people who spend their time throwing insults about a game show based on food-preparation? There is actually a contingent of hypersensitive fans that make up silly petitions trying to exonerate their favorite chefs from defeat?
