Vintage faux wank, pseudo-intellectual style
This is several years old, but it's such a gem that I just have to share. mrgoat of Kuro5hin satires literary critics who take everything too seriously by writing a very serious literary critique of... the Power Puff Girls: "An In-Depth Anaylsis of the Cultural Ramifications Evidenced in the Powerpuff Girls". Not only is this a fun read by itself, but mrgoat also gets into an argument with Fluffy Grue over whether Bubbles is a dumb airhead or not, but done in the style of two stuffy literature professors debating over the more obscure points of Kafka's stories, rather than like rabid fangirls:

In the concept of identity.
Bubbles spends most of her time sitting in a daze of action about her. She doesn't really know herself because she does not think about it.
I believe there are many zen masters who would indeed disagree with you. I find your condemnation of the zen philosophy deplorable. Bubbles knows herself better than all others, for two primary reasons:
  1. She does not need to think about herself to know herself, her knowledge is intrinsic, and as such is the truest form of knowledge, and:
  2. She is the sole perciever of her complete being. Whereas others may know her externally, only she knows the full truth of her being.
It is through her calmness and purposeful blankness of mind that she can truly understand her condition.

What you term naieveness is not naieveness, but an unwillingness to look farther than is needed. Her understanding of the world around her is most sublime simply because she knows better than to read too deeply into the people and events that transpire around her.

Tee-hee!

Hair as black as her heart has become, Buttercup's wounds have grown too deep to heal, and the nerve's have been severed from all feeling. She is what we fear the female to become if we continue on our path.

Oh SURE, just blame it on the dark haired girls why don't cha? *gives the finger*

I'm just shocked and appalled at such a thorough essay on the triumvirate stereotype of Power Puff Girls that the esteemed mrgoat neglected to include the very influential contemporary theory of Miss Margret Cho. That being...Bubbles is so the ho.

And then there's the ho! And no, it does not count if you're Asian and your last name is Ho.

I still stand by the claim that I am simultaneously the smart one and the ho. Come on now, the ho does not have to be stupid!

But she's not, that's the point, she's poking fun at those of us, myself included, who sometimes take our fandoms and characters a bit too seriously.

Psuedo-intellectual over-analyzing/me OTP!!

Man, I remember when we used to play that game with Hunter x Hunter. I didn't understand even half the shit we said. Ah, memories.

Also, I think Fairly Oddparents is more of an example of a town where nobody cares about other towns. There's an ep where they save Dimmsdale with gelatin-brand gelatin and destroy another town in the process. Does anybody care? Of course not.

We used to sit around and over-analyze Slayers. (and just about anything else on TV)

I think we wound up with the conclusion that Zelgadis represents the oppressed black man, Lina is the evil white oppressor bitch, Gourry is the stupid white guy who gets the oppressed black man's job, even when he's not qualified for it, and Amelia is the stereotypical ideal of what a black man wants. That is to say, she has straight black hair and big titties. I think Filia and Xellos were other agents of The Man, too.

Can't remember what we decided about Valgaav, Jillas, and Gravos. Probably that Valgaav is also an oppressed black man, because of all those scenes where he looked like he'd shoved a 2-liter bottle down his pants.

No, I don't know either.

There were also the times we fangirled Fox News - Osama X Saddam is OTP, man! Fox News even *said* Saddam was in bed with al Queda! See! They know!

I figured Valgaav would be the repressed/opressesed gay man.

He really wants some cock, but he can't admit it to himself, so he decides to destroy the world so he doesn't have to deal with it anymore.

And Xellos is trying to get him to accept his 'fruity' side but isn't doing a very good job of it.

I really shouldn't drink coffee at night.

Your spell checker wasn't misleading you. It's the anglicized spelling of the word. The French student in me can't stand the 'naivety' spelling, but somehow it made it into the dictionary, so you get away with it. I guess. :)

I went to the one in New Orleans last year. Holy GOD was that fun! Drinking in the hotel with the sci-fi geeks from 8-10, drinking on Bourbon Street with my college friends from 10-?, good times had by all.

Oh, wait. Were there 'sessions' I was supposed to go to? Shit, I knew I forgot to do something.
