BatmanBegins!Wank...slightly stale, but still crunchy
I'm absolutely amazed that this didn't get posted already, but hey...as long as we get to mock it, who cares when it's done? Anyway...

Aint-It-Cool-News, ye olde hotspot of wank, posts an article concerning the new Batman Begins movie and some casting choices, but a sidenote concerning a comment of Michael Caine's (he's playing Alfred) brings the spooge.

Finally, he noted an interesting aside Michael Caine made to him about Superman and Batman, the former being how America views itself, the latter, darker character being how the rest of the world views America.

Fapfapfapfapfapfapfap...

My favorites:
If Batman is America, surely Robin would be Iraq? Both fucked up the ass daily

NEW RULE: If you're past the age of twelve and you still think comic books and movies based on them should be "dark" (whatever the fuck that means), you are 300+ pounds of queerbait and should contemplate suicide.

is there a country america doesnt hate? Its the only way yanks can learn geography

America.........Ren? or Stimpy?

Are we supposed to be offended by being compared to Batman? I mean...as for spandex wearing superheros go, he's pretty darn cool.

As for the political part, I wonder: Has the general population some how got the notion that America has been the only country to ever screw up? Regardless of my feelings about the war in Iraq (and no, I will not go into whether I'm pro or against), it just seems that in a lot of ways we are getting a raw deal. Now that could be the backlash against our leadership, or just the fact that the journalism has pretty much proliferated throughout the world and permeated all aspects of how our country works. Don't get me wrong, journalism is good; but, they tend to focus on one thing, and that is generally something negative.

Er, sorry, I didn't mean to get all wanky/preachy/philisophical there; seriously, I'm not trying to wank. Just indulging my curiosity.

I think the problem isn't that no other countries have ever fucked up, it's that the US is fucking up right now while the government and some parts of the civilian population are shouting about how it's not fucking up it's helping. So everyone else feels obliged to say 'yes you are and no you're not'. It's like someone trying to stick a CD-ROM into the toaster and insisting that this will work. You just have to say 'no, it won't, really, no, still not going to work because that's an Iranian spy a toaster'.

If it make syou feel any better, Australia's following up its own peacekeeping efforts in East Timor by going right back to stealing their oil. We did intercede to get rid of the Indonesian militia - that we trained - after they voted out the Indonesian administration - that we supported - and for that they should be happy to give us all their oil! It's embarrassing. The peacekeepers went in and did all the right things and there's an elected Timorese government now, although they're still relying on outside assistance to keep things going. But we just can't seem to let go of the oil.

And it's not like they wouldn't sell it to us anyway.

Nod.

It seems that even when doing what is the correct and/or right thing to do, someone is always going to find a way to make it into a personal profit situation. And that inturn reflects badly on the rest of us. Ugh...glad I'm not in politics. I'd be an alcoholic. Between the 'stupid,' the 'evil,' the 'good,' and the 'what the fuck were you smoking' I'd have to have a supply of a good strong whiskey to just get through the day, muchless any type of planning or meeting.

Four Robins actually if you count Carrie from "Dark Knight Returns" (she also had a cameo in the animated series)

Actually, four in the comics now too. Stephanie Brown just put on the Robin suit in #126 since Tim Drake hung up the short pants.

I'm just hoping the new movie won't suck as badly as the last two did.

Hell I'd be happier if we got more season of the animated series but then I am pretty geeky.

For various reasons I've been following the buzz on this one kind of closely and it sounds like it has a chance of being pretty good. If nothing else, the cast rocks pretty hard (Christian Bale, Micheal Caine, Ken Wantanabe, Cillian Murphy, Katie Holmes, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and Liam Neeson) and Chris Nolan is a fantastic director (he directed Memento) so yeah, am crossing my fingers here.

From what news they give out it looks like a geekgasmic experience that's actually going to be cool and serious. And I'm definitely for the animated series, but after Batman Beyond and the diverging from story lines I'd much rather just have anything Batman-related that wouldn't end up better parodied by Adam West on "Kim Possible."

...no, I'm not geeky why do you ask?

I dunno, timeline mucking aside, Batman Beyond was pretty badass. Not really knowing the storyline of the comics probably made it easier to accept, but I like when different storytelling forms come up with different results. Unless it's Batman and Robin. How many goddamn subplots did they think they could cram into that movie and still have time for the twenty-minute plot-freezing fight sequences, anyway?

I'm just looking forward to the part where Bruce Wayne v5 busts out his dancing skills and starts to sing about Santa Fe with a bandana around his neck and a weird New Yorkish accent. And then Doogie Howser's friend shows up and then Roosevelt wins the Pullizer prize. And adolescent boys sing and dance in the streets. Is anyone else breathlessly waiting for this scene?
