Xanderzone is so wanky
...it wanks on stuff that has nothing to do with BTVS. I know I just posted yesterday, but this is too amusing to pass up.

Someone wrote a BTVS/Xmen crossover using that dead-and-buried-and-already-a-fricking-skeleton-horse that is the Halloween episode from S2. It was good. Xander got turned into Magneto for Halloween and got his memories and his powers (since the costume gave him that Xgene and it didn't go away after Halloween). Then they wrote a sequel. And thus started the wank...

Highlights (as it's yahoogroups):

not sure if I'm happy or not about the fact that there is now now worries
about Xan becomeing an X-Man, I rather like Xavior's team even if I
agree more with Xan's take on the situation than Xavior's.

Siding with Magneto's POV is
perfectly in keeping with Xander's character IMO because Xander has
seen both sides of the equation. On the other hand, Xander has
always been about protecting people. I'm looking forward to seeing
how this turns out.

I think it is very much like Xander to side with Magneto rather then
Xavior. The dream just seems stupid.

I think that you've completely missed the entire concept of Xavier's
'dream'...

Yes, it's Utopian, and Yes, it's impossible... That's why he created
the Xmen.

A Utopian dreamer does NOT create a super powered attack team to
further his goals. Charles Xavier *knows* that a war, or at
least that seriously rough times are coming. He's not stupid.

That's why his Xmen are trained to fight. But they're also trained to
preserve moral high ground at all costs, because Charles knows that if
he and his people lose that, then they WILL die.

Magneto is death to mutant kind because his actions will bring down a
genocidal war against mutant kind. And, aside from one or two
individuals, a nuke barrage will kill even a mutant army.

Magneto is a revolutionary, Charles is a resistance fighter.

Given his way, Magneto will roll the dice and gamble that mutants will
win in open warfare. Charles intends to delay the way, forever if he
can, because he KNOWS that mutants will eventually win by default. Why
should he wage war now, when in a few generations all humanity will be
mutants... or at least a fair majority?

Magneto is insane. Charles is a strategist.

Goading a war with humanity is the same sort of stupidity that all
megalomaniacs have done over the centuries... they want it all, and
they want it now. They don't care who has to die to get it. If they
actually gave a damn for their children, they'd be patient and guide
things from the shadows.

Charles 'Utopia' isn't humans and mutants living in harmony... Even he
admits that that goal is a dream. His utopia is mutantkind *surviving*
long enough for the differences to evolve out of the equation.

Mutants ARE going to win. They're the next level of evolution. All
they have to do is wait for it. Magneto is a megalomaniacal bastard
who isn't willing to wait. He wants it all, and he wants it now. It's
his actions that lead directly to the eventual ascendency of
Apocalypse and the subjugation of humanity and mutankind both.

A beautiful dream, but a stupid one never the less. Differences
breed hate, and then war. Its the way of the world.

Xavior should see that. But he doesn't.

Of course he sees it. Have you ever read the comics? Xavier isn't a
stupid man. He just isn't a revolutionary. He's a *patient* man. He
knows that eventually, the 'differences' you're talking about will no
longer exist.

Xavier is much more like Xander, actually, then Magneto... Because
under his mask of compassion, he's far more ruthless then anyone would
believe. I've read comics where ProfX does things that would make
Magneto shudder... The difference is that he doesn't make a move like
that until he has no other choice.

Xavier is the embodiement of 'Hope the best... prepare for the worst'

Gotta agree with you here ten. (Didn't they do a run where the X-men
go to a Alternate Universe where Prof-X never existed? the war had
rippped the world apart and turned it into a wastland)

Yeah, without ProffessorX training his Xmen to fight for his 'dream',
Magneto and the Brotherhood succeeded in initiating the war that
Magneto saw as 'inevitable'...

The result?

Armaggedon.

You simply can NOT challenge the human race on it's own turf and hope
to 'win'... Humans will NUKE *themselves* if they think they are going
to lose anyway. We're a nasty bunch that way.

Magneto is simply a megolomaniac who sounds good to the lunatic
fringe. Basically he's a terrorist leader, no different then Bin Laden
or any other... He knows just enough to sound good to the idiots who
think the world owes them a free ride.

Unfortunately there are a LOT of those idiots kicking around.

hmmm.... i always considered it Ironic that he turned into a Hitler
clone.

ooh well... he was a putz (And as Tenhawk said we will nuke ourselve
*Apparently these creatures object strenuously to being killed.*)

</j-cut>

*Apparently these creatures object strenuously to being killed.*)
Heh, now that's a quote I recognize but can't *quite* place... lol
It´s at the end of "Journeys"
In other words: It was a quote from you :)

Well... while I agree that Magneto is not entirely sane (sane enough
to hatch his let's rise above humankind plots at least), I disagree
with the characterisation of him. I don't think he's driven by the
need for power, but by fear. He has survived humanity at its absolute
worst, had seen people be slaughtered just because they had different
traditions and believes. I don't know how old he was when his parants
were killed by Nazis, but he couldn't be older than six or seven
(least in the movie), that has to be one of the most forming moments
of his childhood.
And after the II WW was over there was the cold war, Mogadishu,
Somalia, Sudan, Irak/Iran crisis, and countless other wars. A man who
was formed in the camps to be a survivor and had learned the hard way
that the victors often like to forget the promises they made (don't
believe me? Then look up how the state of Israel was founded after the
war. The Hebrew had been promised a israelitic state, but in the end
they had to fight a bloody and terroristic fight for it) will become
zynical and paranoid. I think he's afraid of mutants being put into camps, I bet he's having
panic attacts about that thought. In his eyes he's doing anything to
prevent something like that, his fear had long since breed into a
hatred of "Normal" people.Fear breeds hate. Not only do the non-mutants fear and hate the
mutants, but the other way around is possible to. So if I had to put down a diagnosis, I would say that he is suffering
from extreme paranoia, coupled with a hefty dose of survivors guilt
and trauma, maybe even a bit of posttraumatic stress syndrome. The true megalomaniacs of the Xmen series are people like Apocalypse
and Mr Sinster, but don't let us forget the normal human megalomaniacs
that are also part of that 'verse. If I had to give him a title, I would nominate him for the Title of
Most tragic Figure, since he's inadvertly destroying what he is
figting for.

XXXXX
who read to amny history and psychology books for her own good

The White Queen already has a picture in my pics.

I never said that Magneto was right. I said that given the choice,
I'd side with him before Xavior.

Then you'd be wrong. -shrug-

Magneto is a fool. Xavier is the one who is right. He KNOWS that
Mutants will win... IF they just survive long enough.

Magneto is actively TRYING to get the mutant race killed.

By this point in the history, Eric has helped Xavior build his
school. He doesn't know about the X-men.

So he believes his old friend to be sitting back, and waiting for
the humans to come and take them all away.

N0 CHANCE.

Magneto and Xavier talked about their plans in great detail when they
were MUCH younger. and the Xmen WERE part of Charles plan almost from
the beginning. Charles was NEVER planning to sit back at 'let things
happen'. He is a man of action. His actions are merely more subtle
then Magneto's.

And if Xander has Magneto's memories, then he KNOWS about the
school... He knows about the infrastructure... He knows about
Cerebro... and he KNOWS about the *plan* to create the Xmen at the
very least.

As for Eric being insane. Well....ya.

Its not just his past thats formed him. In the comicverse his very
powers are working against his sanity.

Chanings his mind, making him paranode.

But in the movieverse, its just fear thats making him do the things
hes doing.

Fear, yes. But Hubris and arrogance as well.

After all, he wasn't trying to murder all those statesmen in the
first movie. Only mutate them. He was being a bit short sided, its
true.

I will do my best to have Xander curve his 'dads' problems. But I
make no promises.

As for Xavior, yes Ten I have read the comics. And at least Magneto
has excuses for his actions.

Xavior has acted like a bastard as well, and a murderer. He isn't a
saint. Not in UV616, or the Ultimate UV.

In the Ultimate UV Magneto is a rabid dog. Wolverine deserves to be
shot. Hank Pym should be castrated. The Hulk needs to be dumped into
the Sun. You really want to base ANY assumptions on on that crap?

And, yes, Xavier is a ruthless son of a bitch. I said so myself. In
fact, he is MUCH more ruthless then Magneto... The difference is, he
actually tries OTHER tactics first. When compassion and mercy fails,
then you see the iron fist.

THAT is what a leader is supposed to do.

I will agree that the world needs him. Seeing that he died and it
went to hell and all.

But the world doesn't spin because of him. He is after all, just one
guy.

In that UV Sinister adopted Cyclops and Havok. Beast is a madman.
Lots of heros were lost there.

Is was all those lost souls that made the world so bad. Not just
Xaviors.

And why was Cyclops and Havok adopted by sinister? Why was Beast a
raving madman? Because Charles X wasn't there to guide them, to take
them in.

He is only one man, but he is a pivot point for the entire Marvel
Universe.

Magneto isn't the boogy man. He isn't Hitler! Hes just a guy doing
what 'he' believes is right for his people.

Ummm... That's what Hitler was doing. Boosting HIS people to the
detriment of other people.

Magneto isn't he boogy man, no. He's worse. He's not evil in a black
hat, he's evil masquerading as a noble cause.

That doesn't make his actions true, or him a hero. But it also
doesn't make him the great satan.

In many ways hes a victom of his own making. Hes actions and
reaction over and over to the same ends.

Trapped. He doesn't want to be a bad man. Eric just can't see any
other way to be.

Which makes him all the worse, because he doesn't LOOK to see what
other options he has.
