Moon scepter elimination!
I know we're all sick and tired of [info]fanfic_hate, but bear with me. In the Queer as Folk US post, someone comments on shipper Gus (Brian's son) fics.

[info]zoisite84 pimps her own fic where Brian, Justin, and Gus have a threesome.

Which causes people to bring up how much they hate said threesome fic.

[info]zoisite84 proceeds to respond to every. Single. Comment.

I think that once everyone can agree on exactly what a hate meme is and what constitutes constructive criticism vs. good-natured 'fic wanking vs. unadulterated hatred for a 'fic's author poorly disguised as 'fic wanking, we can talk.

I *knew* this would be on here-- glad to see I was right.

I was hoping that some of the comments wouldn't be anonymous so we could give proper credit to those who gave us TON of wank.

Ah, but your missing half the wank!

See, after the fic was originally posted, burnitbackwards wrote a remix version of the story in which Gus went to therapy. She friends locked it. In the comments thread, a number of people gossipped about how much it disturbed and horrified them, whilst using all of their cutest Gus icons. One fandom BNF (ragingpixie) decided that spaggel and zoisite should be kicked out of the fandom (her exact words were -- I never want to read [the fic] again for as long as I live and I don't want anyone I like to read it or even come close to clicking on a link that might lead to it). Spaggel sat back and laughed at the glorious wank, got defriended by one person (susanderavish), and then friended by five other people. And zoisite replied to everyone's comments (I find her tenacity quite admirable).

There's also the part where they tried to post the fic to bjfic.net. It was rejected on the grounds that it was underage and incestuous (though techinically it was only incestuous -- Gus was aged 16 in the fic, which is the age of consent in Pennsylvania). It was submitted again, and rejected again. It was submitted a third time and allowed to remain (this is what I meant about finding zoisite's tenacity admirable). Sadly, there wasn't really any wank in the feedback on the bjfic.net.



BTW, spaggel loves you now. She's been praying that this would end up on F_W since day one.

Incestous Gus/Brian slash!?! I'm not really surprised that people went "ewwww!" at that. Even with Gus as 16 years old, it's still pretty creepy. But the recap of the old crazy fangirl/Gale Harold "my hed iz pastede on yay!" wank was worth all that blinding spooge...

Honestly, I don't understand why everyone is picking on the incest here, since that seems to be the least offensive part of that story. The writing style makes me cringe, and when someone who knows next to nothing about the fandom can see that everyone's massively OOC then you *know* there's a problem. As far as I'm concerned, that story would be just as icky without the incest.

I actually think that's kind of funny. I don't know anything about the fic or the fandom, and I have no idea whether zoisite84 is serious or not, but she sure seems to be irritating the haters! She's harshing their hate, man! What ever happened to common decency in fandom? That's no way to treat your fellow fen! (I'm surprised graceskies hasn't banned her.)

The fic? Is boring. BORING. At least, the first little bit I read. I didn't get too far.

Gus thinks this, Gus thinks that, the author is TELLING us everything about Gus instead of showing it to us. I hate having the story TOLD to me, especially the back story. I didn't even get far enough to find something to be offended by, if it weren't nearly impossible to offend me.

Really, people read far enough to know who fucks who? BORING.


But this, farther down the page, is priceless:

Brian used all his strength into the shove. He wanted Justin out of his life. He pushed Justin violently away from him. Brian stood in shocked horror as he watched his lover sail out into the hall. There was no way Justin could have stopped himself. Brian's knees buckled as he watched Justin plummet down the elevator shaft screaming his name.

*dies* This just fulfills all my fantasies. No more Justin, yay!

Really, the image of Justin plummeting screaming to his death had me in tears, I was laughing so hard.

Well, Brian did have sex with Justin when he was still underage (as best as memory serves) I think the real problem here is that these people are really opposed to incest. Or maybe it's the fact that it's massively OOC, even for Brian...or maybe it's the fact that the fic is really, really crappy in general...I don't know. Wankers cannot be explained with earth logic, they just can't.
