Dude,its just a game!
Over at the Sunnydale Socks RPG Angel Buffy and Charmed fans get to watch the action play out when the three storylines combine and the characters interact. Its fun and interesting and im a big fan. But the mixed blessing of this rpg is that non players can comment on entries, and sometimes the players reply in character

It starts when Buffybot_Slayer

breaks the rule of interaction, you can comment on the action, but you can not right your self into the story,for example by saying that you'll help them fight a battle(i know this from experience, before i knew the rule i said i was gonna help them in the finale battle*

Various nonplayers tell her to shut up, Spike's player comments in character and threatens to ban her, and finally the great Cordelia Chase AKA Queen Bitch lays the smackdown out of character.

What's not to get? The non-player Mary Sue is obviously trying to throw herself into the plotline to help her Twu Wuv Spike. And I'm guessing it's far from the first time.

Yeah, as they said in those comments, there was the "TELL HER TELL HER TELL HER" extravaganza. She's just generally somebody who takes it way too seriously. Most of the other people who comment have fun with it. But with her it's like "OMG IF I COMMENT ENUF TEH REAL SPIKE WILL <3 ME 4EVA!!!1"

There have been some other hilarious wanks in the past, too. Like the time this Anonymous kept yelling at everybody for calling Lorne gay, and then telling Lorne he didn't have to worry because not everybody was as closed-minded as those people... That was a gem.

Haha, no, I must have missed that one. I started reading when my friend became a Sock in like September (and we never heard from him since...), and I've read off and on since then, depending on how crazed my flist got. I've probably missed a bunch of stuff.

Let's see... that started sometime around Marchish? Maybe February? of the finale year for Buffy and ran right through to the end of the series. At some point in there they split off and made identical services and whatnot with mittenized names. Like we had "hellmouth_news" so they made "mitten_news" or something. This was a long time ago. :P

Okay, I take it this has happened more than once? Because, if not then the players are the ones throwing monumental hissyfits. What the shit was all that stuff in caps about anyway? Tell her what?

If she's being an annoying turd then block her from commenting, it's not hard to do. The RPers seem to throwing a benny over nothing, point her towards the rules, ban her or shut up.

It happens . . . and happens . . . and happens. She's been a plague for about two months. No, longer.

dark_kestrel is echoing, word for word, an earlier post made to both the Spike journal and the Angel journal pre-finale, exhorting them to tell Buffy that Spike was alive. And even that popped up as the result of some wank. buffybot_slayer isn't really a Spikegirl, she's a Lindsey fangirl to the point of scariness, and had already revealed herself to be a moron. She commented something idiotic on Angel's journal, I snarked her, and after a go-round that included her calling me a silly bitch, Angel banned her. She then called her little friend dark_kestrel in to avenge her ("TELL HER TELL HER TELL HER"), which earned dark_kestrel a ban too.

Most of the Socks, though, aren't as quick on the ban as the Angel player is, and really don't encourage banning people from the game. She has been pointed to the rules, more than once -- once even by another reader -- and still just Doesn't. Get. It; what you're seeing there is the last-chance Shape Up, Get It Right, or Get Out smackdown.

shes been doing it for months, and the "tell her" shit corresponds with the fact the in canon and this rpg Buffy doesnt know Spike is alive yet, she is a total Spuffy4EVA shipper and therefore wants to twist the plotline to her whim

What a neat little bitchfest all around. Yeah, I know who I'm "supposed" to be mocking, but since the majority of the actual wankiness comes from the socks getting royally pissed, it's all fair game. Especially since, one entry ago, "_Spike_" was playing along with the "buffybot_slayer" (and what's she doing there anyway? wasn't the fucking robot dismembered and trashed 3 years ago? Is this the time warp again?) And then the one person that really seems "in-character" to me is the one who actually claims that she's breaking character. Cause that was totally early-season Queen_C talking there...bitchy and self-righteous. Then, that seems to be the general character of everyone in there, and they seem to get even more infuriated when someone tries to apologize. I do have to tell that "buffybot_slayer" girl one thing -- robots don't use that godawful spelling unless they're programmed to. Get a fucking spell-check installed in your CPU.

Is it just me, or do the socks and readers from that comm outnumber the regular posters in the comments here so far? Someone one calling in friends for moral support? Not that I'm complaining -- more to mock. And that's always good, cause that's what this community is for (despite the opinions of certain segments of the population who think we're here to keep the wank going.)

Go check out her journal. See how she thinks she's really going to go out on a date with Christian Kane.
See how she refers to the characters as if she is actually talking to them. She's been told politely not to interfere with the plotlines, and she ignored it. I'd be pissed too, if I were them.

Yeah, I'm reading her LJ. Yeah, she sounds like a nervous squeeing fangirl of the sort that tends to annoy the hell out of me, but she doesn't sound delusional. Doesn't even say who she's meeting, so I have to take your word for it, but she does say "if" and does joke around. Sorry, her being mockworthy doesn't make the rest less mockworthy. Course, I went to that "evilhandissues" LJ and saw her get smacked around in character. If you don't want her on your playground, don't play with her. It's that simple. I already pointed out that even _Spike_ was engaging her in character.

On the other hand, that janeway216 person seriously needs to chill.

im not friends with anyone in the rpg, (because dude i am so unworthy!!!111) I just think shes really pushing it, when they called me on it i just said OMG im sorry and tried to contain my inner fangirl from then on, but she continues to break rules and annoy people. Once is forgivable but shes just abusing her right to be stupid.

WRT to the Socks players -- the setup of the game is that as much as possible, they *have* to engage with people who comment in the journals, and they have to engage in-character. They've tried as much as possible to get through to this particular person that she can't write herself into the action, can't tell one character things that they weren't supposed to be able to "see" in another character's LJ, and in general, can't interfere with gameplay, and she's not getting it.

There's been all kinds of Sunnydale-sock-related kerfuffling and in-house wank, from what I've seen in the over-a-year that it's been running, but this ain't that. This is the players trying not to have to be assholes, and finally getting pushed too far by the (intentionally or not) clueless.

I love their setup. It's about as close to FW as an RPG can get; when we started it was pure anarchy, then we slowly developed a couple of people responsible for helping new players and smacking down stalkerspammertrolls.

Of course, I and several other FW readers were involved in that whole process, so it stands to reason it'd have some kind of influence from FW.

This is the first wank I've ever seen where I know virtually everyone involved (and not from FW).

I played Dawn in the SS (heh.) from the beginning all the way through to a little past the end of the Buffy series. We had everything; stalkers, death threats, stalkers, spam, stalkers, obnoxious Mary Sues, stalkers... good times.

Anyway, this is what always happened back then, too. There would be a long period of hinting followed by an all-out blitz of muns and other socks. It's generally pretty effective, especially considering that most of the muns in the Socks have between three and twenty sock journals. Or did, anyway.
