Finally! The story* behind the quickquote vs. daily_snitch debacle.
*well, at least one side of it...

Once upon a time, little_needle made an HP fandom newsletter called quickquote. All the little HP fen flocked to it, saying, "Oooooh! A shiny new friend!" As time went by, little quickquote became sickly and wan, until isiscolo came to fill it with recs and links anew. There was much rejoicing. After a while, a foul wind blew across the kingdom, and isiscolo left for the greener pastures of the new daily_snitch. No one knew why, until now...

Wow. There's wank behind this? When I came across them, all I thought was "big fandom, two newsletters - makes sense to me." Should've known that where there's HP, there's wank.

Of course, I could easily friend the five or six people they generally rec/quote/pimp/etc and bypass both altogether, but that's another wank.

Bah, Needle annoys the heck out of me. I remember with QQ that people started something in the comments, a discussion or a disagreement, and she Loudly Proclaimed that she would be screening comments from then on. It was the tone that got to me, not the issue. And I also found it bloody sodding annoying that she didn't list pairings *or* ratings for "It Fics" (not to mention that the "It" thing irritates me as well). I don't know if she does now, but I really prefer to know what it is I'm about to read. After all, her tastes might not correspond with mine.

This happens every other month. little_needle starts screaming about how someone in fandom done her wrong. She accuses them of personal vendetta and stealing her ideas.

Does anyone remember [info]hpchan? She accused its spinoff community (which formed because she refused to allow warnings on fics) of stealing her "original idea" as well. A year later, she brought this up all over again, and accused the founders of the spinoff community of trying to push her friends out of fandom and other satanic rituals.

little_needle also claims to have invented the concept of HP fanfic recs and has given herself the title of "original recs girl."

The bitch about [info]daily_snitch is same shit, different day.

Neither side is smelling like a rose here but as a matter of record, little_needle is not Little Miss Rational. She has a long history of wank, fandom grudge matches and abandoned fandom projects behind her to prove it.

Wow. Lots of Needle bashing. Considering you really only heard Isis' story since Needle locked her post blah blah.

She never said, "You're posting the wrong kind of stuff." She never said, "Please don't invite people." She never said, "I don't like what you're doing." She didn't say anything - until I changed one color in the layout, after I'd been doing QQ solo for nearly a month - in other words, she hadn't posted at QQ for nearly two months.

Think about this. You start a community and give trust to someone to run it for a bit. Then you find this person has invited people, and changed your concept. Don't let me get started on the layout change. I don't care if she was 'running it for a month' , it wasn't her place to make changes without consulting the admin. Period.

I'd love to stay neutral, as I am not much into the HP fandom. But that is just plain rude.

I looked at her journal and it was all about "Dom" and LotRPS and stuff like that, and I thought that maybe she'd just got bored with it, and HP fandom.

'My fandom is Holier than your fandom'. Please. She discards Lortrips like it's a 'silly little thing teehehehe'.

Didn't this kind of thing happen before? You know? That guy Hitler tried to take over some countries and stuff? And those silly Jews?

Let's not forget something pastede on. No wank is without the pastede.

I knew there had to be more behind the quickquote/daily_snitch split...

little_needle always seems to be involved in wank. Didn't she turn out to be the anonymous person behind that HP fandom BNF "deathmatch" thing not too far back?

I had quickquote friended for a long time back when little_needle and isiscolo were both posting to it. I didn't even have to check to see who was making which posts - I could always tell by the way isiscolo's were so much more well-organized and coherant.

You can let me do with quickquote whatever I want, within the constraints of your original idea as a fandom newsletter, and with full credit to you as the originator, up until the time that you take an active part in running it again (either solo, or shared.) When you want to take over again, you can change back everything I changed that you didn't like.
And so on and so forth.

Frankly .... Does she really have a right reason to say those kind of things?

I know that little_needle was having some problems and other priorities. That doesn't give anyone a reason to assume they can completely take something away from them.

I could be wrong.

When last we left little_needle, she was heavily engaged in giving oral pleasure to malfoypatriarch Eventually, though, it petered out, as all such things must, and little_needle soon started to yearn for the days when she could just masturbate herself. Some nights, she would weep silently and try to wank while lying in her bed in the highest tower of the newly-created WankerTwit House (the day she came to the Great Hall to be placed, the Sorting Cap categorically refused to have anything to do with her until her head was removed from its perrenial position up her ass. Since no force of reason, electroshock therapy or humiliation could induce little_needle to do so, the Sorting Cap just decided -- from a safe distance -- to shove her into the fledgling WankerTwit, whose motto -- Semper Sploogetastic -- was less a battlecry than a dictionary definition of its inhabitants) Being an exhibitionist -- she had shocked and amused virtually every member of the student body and the faculty at Hogwarts by suddenly popping up and wanking in front of them with a huge grin on her face -- she could gain no pleasure from her nightly fingering antics. Unfortunately, the mean girls (and three or four boys) of the Fandom_Wank House made a practice of mocking her whenever she wanked in public, and she didn't know whether malfoypatriarch would come to the defense of her honour again unless she promised to go down on her/him again. And little_needle might have been into some nasty-assed kinks, but giving other people pleasure wasn't one of them.

Something had to be done. One night, staring at the ceiling and trying to think of as many ways to rhyme "clit" with wizarding terms as possible, she had an idea: she would start a school newspaper! She had already owned a gambling pool pitting certain fen against certain others in a deathmatch, but that had come to a sad end after

It was an amazing idea, and she was quite certain that no-one had ever thought of it before. She would collect various bits of useful information, and then sell the paper from a booth in the Great Hall, and if anyone wanted a copy, they'd have to watch her wank.

So she started the rag and cast a Pinkus On Pink Obscurantist spell on the paper to make it hard for anyone to read it. Her reasoning -- such as it was -- was that if people ruined their eyes trying to decipher the words on the paper, they wouldn't be able to see her wanking right in front of them. All was well and good for the first 20 minutes of the "Quickquotes" (for that was the name she gave her paper, a blatant rip-off of Bartlett's Quotations) but then her wanking finger got tired. Since her other hand had to be devoted to writing the paper, and since she was the mistress of wandless magic, she had no adequate replacements at, er, hand to use instead. So she called in isiscolo to take over the daily grind so she could wank full-time.

It went well for a while. Isiscolo grew sick of always looking over her shoulder to discover little_needle staring directly at her while wanking but they would discuss the matter and little_needle would take over writing for a while and help out, allowing isiscolo to wank herself a little as an understandable means of relieving the pressure of belonging to a fen where wank wasn't just a recreational sport, but the only real magic they ever learned to do. (Their Defense against the Dark Arts of Logic and Sanity classes were wankasms that killed off more than a few of their DADALS teachers, and it was widely known that Snape hated teaching the Lube Potions class, especially since little_needle used up an entire year's worth of ingredients each week.)

No one's yet mentioned the major difference between little_needle and isiscolo's versions of qq: little_needle does the elitist thing, linking to flocked posts and closed communities, and giving shout-outs to her clique. I mean, that's why I switched to ds.

Little Needle makes a friendslocked post complaining about how isiscolo took her HP fandom letter. Then a few days later she makes a public post about how she's leaving HP fandom altogether but it's been a long time coming.

So ... why was she so upset about isiscolo taking over the newsletter? If she was disenchanted anyway, why not take the opportunity to hand it over to someone else and then go do something she actually likes?

Or is that too rational?
