The problem, of course, for having a community for hated character support or whatever is the fact that not all the fans are going to agree on who shouldn't be hated. And thus does the spooge spill forth. I'm honestly surprised that that community isn't more wanky. It's a fine line they walk... As for the matter at hand, I think we can all agree that Integra is The Sex, no matter what gender or orientation you have. (Okay, so that had nothing to do with the matter at hand. I mean we seem to have a group of people, many suffering from victim complexes, who will happily rip into other pairings while whining about how their personal faves are picked on. And lets not even get into the poster lamenting over the lack of KamuixYuzuriha pairings who's sole basis for that pairing is untranslated scans she found on-line. [Newsflash bitch, she has a canon love interest and it's NOT Kamui.] Personally the wank started to flow when one poster is dead set on saying the 'Swine/sow' exchange was Integra and Enrico 'teasing' each other. 	I never really saw hated_pairings that way... But that is something to think about. When you're making "in defense of" or "pro-something" comms, you want to make sure you don't come off as having a victim complex and you're making the comm just to "get back at the mean people who hate your precious pets"...I'll have to be careful hated_character doesn't get that way. Gratuitous Japanese fanart spam time! Integral/Integra Hellsing, from the anime/manga Hellsing, is the leader of a suuuuper seeektrit organization in the UK that monitors and eliminates vampires. The basic idea is that she's the decendant of Abraham Van Helsing. Her pet/slave vampire, Alucard, is supposedly Dracula (the creator's take is that Van Helsing didn't destroy Dracula, but enslaved him). She's really quite sexy. ... Spam spam spam. Well that's also partly to do with Hirono (the writer/artist) himself. It seems he can't keep her name straight in the manga, either from what I've seen. I tend to waffel between Ceras and Seras, myself. But, I can see splooging all over about it, and I've seen people act like spelling the police girl's name a different way would brign about the 10 plagues or something. Ah well. Holy crap. It only took a few hours for that discussion to turn into a WANK EXPLOSION. While yeah, the very concept on which the community is founded is pretty much a powder keg, I haven't seen it get this stupid intense. Normally it's a fairly low-key place, even considering the grand Kamui/Yuzuriha "But the artbook says so!" fiasco mentioned earlier. Doubly surprising given that this is Hellsing generating so much wank debate. I've encountered a few scary Hellsing shippers before, but not like this. My little fandom is all grown up! Anyway, I just think it's really funny that a post "defending" a relatively popular pairing--I hesitate to say "rightfully so", but in that particular community, perhaps it was--should generate so much bitching. --samhatesyou @ LJ (Reply to this)
