Over on LJ, my friend [info]kragey makes a rather ranty post, with no real specifics about who she's speaking to or why. Unfortunately, this coincides with her linking to her journal on a Tori Amos message board (I'm not sure which, I'm afraid), where she has recently let them know about some covers she's done for a planned tribute album.

Sadly, they were not impressed by said covers. And really, really feel the need to make that clear.

Her uberwanky friend [info]akurah joins the melee in several places, as do a few less-wanky friends, but that only further angers the anons. There is some random foonay to lighten things up here and there, but it's mostly soopah Tori wank.

The music's here - haven't taken a listen yet myself, as downloading anything can be a pain in the butt on my computer, so I'm keeping myself out of [info]i_wank and staying neutral on this one. Except, of course, to post it here >;D

I got a flame the other day that said I was a loser and a fag. Clearly, I was dealing with an amateur. The vengeful Tori fans impress me, yo.

*wince* ohhhhhh, promoting your covers on the band's forum = asking for death

*listening to the Spark song* oooo, the echoy-thing is kind of annoying and she can't quite nail a lot of the vocal snags that Tori puts into her songs - not easy to do in itself when we are talking about Tori here, but the more too-slow or off verses i hear, the more i understand how this song is like nails down a chalkboard to some @_@

Still, some people were just assholes about it. Obviously the girl needs to work on her stuff but lack of talent is not an open invitation to just be cruel. Telling someone to die of AIDS is an automatic fail.

heh heh back in the 90's when Britpop was king and Blur and Oasis had this friendly rivalry going on as they competed to be more successful than each other, some choice remarks were made *chuckle* The Gallagher brothers (did i spell that right?) are well-known for their blunt, often colourly-cursive speech and there was one particular interview where one of the brothers (Noel it turns out) made a comment that can be paraphrased as "I hope [i think Damian was who he singled out] dies of AIDS" at the height of their very-public media-covered verbal battling.

Y'know, I could hunt through all my old videos and find one of the many interviews where Noel talks about it, in order to give you an exact transcription... I could check Select and Q's websites to see if they archive that far back... but honestly, I'm far too lazy. You'll just have to take the word of a music geek with a very long memory, 'kay?

Not so long ago, Oasis released a single simultaneously with Blur's new song. The spirit was one of unfriendly rivalry. The two bands had derided each other richly in the press, and the competition was on to see who'd be Number One. Blur won. Noel Gallagher was asked what he thought of Blur in an article in the Observer's Life magazine on the 17th of September.

He told them all right: "the guitarist I've got a lot of time for. The drummer I've never met - I hear he's a nice guy. The bass player and the singer - I hope the pair of them catch AIDS and die because I fucking hate them two."

Ha! Proof that I am a loser who keept music trivia in her head for far too long!

I took a listen. Her voice is flat, and rather than bringing her own emotions to the songs, she sounds as if she's trying to emulate Tori's.

*shrug* Then again, I can't stand Tori Amos, so what does it matter?
