Poké-Wank makes Baby Giovanni cry
Once upon a time, there was a site called Serebii. And it was a cute site, with screenshots of Pokémon episodes and some game guides, and the people came.

Serebii Joe, the webmaster, openly got his episodes from a channel called #free_pokemon, and advertised the channel on his site.

Then Archaic of Bulbagarden decided he would provide recent episodes to download.

And the wank flew. (yes, I know this particular incident has already been wanked, but I couldn't find the link)

By this time, Serebii had already gotten a reputation as a control freak and somewhat of a dictator for other things...and that's where this wank comes in.

"Tell us what you think!" he posts on his boards.

It starts off ok, as people say various things. Then a dark shadow starts creeping up...

1. Some suggestions for the boards are made, and Joe replies with
Talking about Site not forums ¬¬

Yeesh

2. Someone else suggests multiple layouts. "Multiple Layouts are a virtual impossibility and wont happen" (despite the fact that other sites don't seem to have any trouble with this...)

3. The issue of security loopholes was brought up, and "It is also impossible to totally stop these things such as loopholes", sayth Serebii. (translation--he's not going to do it)

4. Argy and Foxy_Ninetails offer some suggestions and Serebii shoots them *ALL* down (with an added slice at Bulbagarden)

5.Manectricity Overlord: "Like some one else said earlier, the site needs more personality. Its extreamly useful for information and its the bets site for pokemon info but its like an encyclopedia. Im not sure how exactly you could change this, but hey Im just giving the idea, you got to do the planning :-P."

Serebii: "I officially say Bah"

6. Serebii reminds people Remember people. SITE NOT FORUMS, and For lords sake...i said site not forums. He does this *SEVERAL TIMES*



And then we reach Page Ten. This is where it really starts, with someone asking for cheats, Porygon Z saying that Serebii.net doesn't endorse cheats, and Argy replying with

Excuse my cynicism, but, you know, the fact that Serebii.net DOES cheat by using codes for its game sections doesn't help the "we don't endorse cheating" vision. Same thing goes for episode downloads. I'm not saying that you should take down the pictures or game info, or provide downloads or codes; it's just that when you say one thing and do another, it breeds confusion and thus people want to break the "rules."

Serebii tells them that talking about cheats and ROMs is illegal. When OzAndrew reminds him that it isn't illegal to *talk* about them, Serebii goes nuts.

They are the rules none the less now stop, sayth he.

Argy comes back with I don't see why discussing them is wrong; when you or anyone else here that lives outside of Japan discusses the new episodes, they know where you get them. They also know how you get unobtainable Pokemon and take screenshots of your games. There are quite a few stupid people here, but you can't blindfold them from the truth.

Simply replying to our concerns with comments that aren't helpful or detailed is arrogant and immature. It's like you're covering your ears, yelling "shut up, go away, don't bother me." As a webmaster of a site with many fans, it's your duty to be as polite and helpful as possible. Without the fans, you've got nothing. I suggest you adjust your attitude toward your visitors, because this really does not and has never felt like "The Place for Everyone."

Yeah, I suppose you probably don't care what people think. :\
