Because half of you want more active mods and the other half want no mods, we're taking the middle road. Basically, we're going to do what we were doing before - whatever we all agree on or at least don't disagree on enough to undo - but we're going to tell you all about each and every thing we do using that shiny moderator button. In [info]fw_debate, you can bring up serious issues (someone trolling? A post linking to an underage journal? Tell us) and tell us all about your feelings re: the aforementioned modly decisions we're going to be telling you all about. The reason it's in a seperate community is so that those who really don't care won't be bothered by it. It's open membership and open posting. Same rules as FW, though; it's there so you can tell us what you think, not to go crazy with the flaming, and we won't hesitate to take action against people abusing our willingness to listen to complaints.

Huh? Have I clicked the wrong link? Fandom_Wank? Serious? Is this a response to this (http://www.journalfen.net/users/backfromspace/27150.html) asshatery? You need to get over yourself, dude.

Yes, I know.

And no, actually. FW Debate got set up last week. I just didn't tell anyone about it because we weren't sure if we were going to actually use it or not.

Because what we all really want in a mod is someone who does anything an anonymous troll tells him to do.

I know I do. At least until we can get a mod who does exactly what the voices only he can hear tell him do, unless it conflicts with the messages God writes in his cereal.

Personally this lowly n00b thinks it's a great idea. I'm fairly certain much of the hurt feelings resulted in a lack of communication, especially over what it was the mods actually did.

I have nothing else interesting to add. I'm just killing time instead of packing.

A relevant quote in response to some of the threads this whole thing has generated, not necessarily to the OP above...

"The Frogs were living as happy as could be in a marshy swamp that just suited them; they went splashing about caring for nobody and nobody troubling with them. But some of them thought that this was not right, that they should have a king and a proper constitution, so they determined to send up a petition to Jove to give them what they wanted. 'Mighty Jove,' they cried, 'send unto us a king that will rule over us and keep us in order.'

"Jove laughed at their croaking, and threw down into the swamp a huge Log, which came down splash into the swamp. The Frogs were frightened out of their lives by the commotion made in their midst, and all rushed to the bank to look at the horrible monster; but after a time, seeing that it did not move, one or two of the boldest of them ventured out towards the Log, and even dared to touch it; still it did not move. Then the greatest hero of the Frogs jumped upon the Log and commenced dancing up and down upon it, thereupon all the Frogs came and did the same; and for some time the Frogs went about their business every day without taking the slightest notice of their new King Log lying in their midst. But this did not suit them, so they sent another petition to Jove, and said to him, 'We want a real king; one that will really rule over us.'

"Now this made Jove angry, so he sent among them a big Stork that soon set to work gobbling them all up. Then the Frogs repented when too late..."

I vote this means that we should get a log, and worship it as our king.

Well, you know what you've done now, right?

You've made it so that whenever we get back to being able to make new journals, there will be an absolute CHAOS of a run on trying to make the sockpuppets [info]log, [info]the_log, [info]stork, [info]the_stork etc etc etc.

I, for one, appreciate that the mods are now attempting to mod.

For future reference, if someone is going to be banned, will they get some kind of warning to "cut it out" first (you know, an "[insert number of] strikes and you're out" kind of thing), or will they just be banned outright?

Several people without mod access warned Nessa, then several people with mod access warned Nessa, and then after that I had two exchanges with her solely to determine if she was actually being annoying on purpose. Should I be more clear in the future and include "This is a warning, stop or you'll be banned" at the end of my warnings?

I support this community. Seems to me that some people hate the idea of FW modding (OMG SO WANKY LOL) so much that they are prepared to let FW get full of unfunny wanks and trolls. Being wanky is not some plague to be avoided at all costs; it is a lot better than being stupid and lame (something that the cabal needed to learn IMO).

Mmm hmmm.

The thing we kinda forgot is that we're all a little wanky about *something*, and there's really nothing wrong with that.

I think this is a good idea because it'll let the mods know there's a problem before it gets completely out of control.

So a hearty 'this good idea is NOT pastede on yay' to the mods.

I actually have to agree with this action. If nothing else, it might help keep the wank down on things like trolling, etc. . .

I really don't see it as Mods being wanky either; it's more like they are taking on more of a responsibility in dealing with this.
