While she makes some good points, and some intelligent discussion happens, wank springs up when she mentions that wants those who truly believe in the OrliViggo relationship to defriend her.

Honestly it seems to be coming from all sides here...

Though on a personal note I do think that saying all fans who think Viggo and Orli are getting it on in real life are self-hating lowlifes is a *tad* wanky.

My theory is that this belief comes from self loathing, the thought I'm not good enough projected onto all women, so no woman is good enough for Orlando or Viggo. A woman like Kate increases this self loathing, because it appears she is good enough..

So, um, basically if you don't like Kate Bosworth it is because YOU HATE YOURSELF AS A WOMYN and you are taking it out on her, when what you really should be doing is embracing her like a SISTER and singing a chorus of WE SHALL OVERCOME!

Perhaps I'm a very naive little auk, but would it seriously be OMG the END of Orli's CAREER if he came out, as some of the beard theory defenders are saying? I mean, yeah, maybe if he were a schoolteacher in Alabama or even a middle manager in certain parts of Upstate New York, but he's an actor. Hollywood is fickle and weird but in this day and age I couldn't see it meaning no roles at all - some director is bound to want to be the brave one who breaks down that barrier now that it's common knowledge that it's going to be broken anyway.

And even if the beard theorists are right, and he never gets anything but indy roles for the rest of his life, frankly that's not exactly having it bad, and right now he should be putting some money away for just such an emergency as falling out of demand anyhow. Even if he's not gay, he won't be flavor-of-the-month forever.

As far as the sisterhood is powerful schtick, it is annoying, but I don't think it's that far off to say that people who bash the girlfriend for being the girlfriend, no matter who the girlfriend is (as opposed to those who don't like a given actress or her work for whatever reason) have a weird 1950's catfight mentality.

Here's what I don't understand about the "Orli is teh ghei, Kate is just a bitchy beard" crowd. Yes, I understand why it would mess up Orlando's career if he came out. Yes, I understand why bearding occurs. Yeah, sure, it'd make sense if it were true. But these are all assumptions based on the idea that Orlando is gay in the first place, and, maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, but I've never seen any indication that he was. Sure, he's a prettyboy, and yeah, he's had more than a few photo ops cuddling the other LotR actors. But if he were gay, and if he were desperately trying to cover it up to save his career, why would he be trading PDAs with, say, Viggo? Don't you think, if he was really insecure about his sexuality and trying to cover up his gayness, that he wouldn't touch another man in public with a ten foot pole? And the same goes for the Domlijah crowd, and all the other RPS ships.

But then again, I lack one of those shiny tinhats, so what do I know?

Okay, I love Orlando Bloom to death. I will probably fangirl him until I die. But the VigOrli tinhats/beard believers really kill me. Those airport pics with him and Kate? Cutest things ever. They are madly in love. And as much as I love the guy, he's just not that good an actor.
