bowie_daily wank
(new member, first wank, ect ect)

bowie_daily's a comm on livejournal that revolves around pictures of David Bowie, and only posts with pictures of David Bowie

thethinwhiteduke posts a picture-less post about David Bowie's recent health problems
she's told the post needs a poicture, or it will be deleted
cue a string of self-righteous bitching from thethinwhite duke about how anyone who wants a picture in the post isn't a true fan. wash rinse repeat ... a whole bunch
repeated attempts by other members to explain the concept of "picture community" get ignored in favor of more "if you really loved Bowie, you wouldn't care about the stupid rules!" ranting

is there a juris_imprudence law about declaring who is and who isn't a "true fan"?

I'm convinced he's going to live forever...like Keith Richards. They both have that "preserved" look about them.

And is it me, or does the new "freeze replies" button on LJ do absolutely nothing?

Is that what that is? it confused me so much. What's it supposed to do?

It prevents any further replies to a comment thread.

The threads still seem to go on forever, though...

Well, that's the catch; it doesn't stop new threads from being created. I guess it's to keep a single thread from spiraling out of control, as they do sometimes . . .

Seeing as he's Jack Sparrow's dad, I say he's pickled in rum. That's what's keeping him preserved.

Yeah, more music wank! And such a nice one, too. Though, I was surprised to see it. Mostly the fans seem far more peaceful and generally not very wanky. Ah well, there's a first for everything.

Yes.

Deirdre's Law: As a fandom discussion grows longer, the probability that participants will define True Fans as "those who agree with us" approaches one.

(Deirdre is the main admin for the Gossamer Project, the largest XF fanfic archive and probably the largest single-fandom archive online.)

If there isn't one, their should be.
