All right. As a bit of a background to how I found this place, I have been fascinated for quite a while with both forensic psychology and serial killers -- an entirely academic interest, as I'm interested in what makes these people tick; why they do the things they do, etc. Unfortunately, this curiosity leads me to scour LJ for communities pertaining to criminal psychology and the like and, as we all know, LJ caters to everyone. In the process, today, I found something very, very disturbing. Ted Bundy fangirls. I trust that everyone here knows who Ted Bundy is. If you don't, or are interested in more background information, The Crime Library is an excellent resource (and a fascinating read.)

As for the wank, I will let it speak for itself and attempt to keep commentary to a minimum.

Now, if you know anything about the Bundy case, you'll know that at his trial, there were a number of young girls who would follow all of the proceedings, come to all of the trials, sit in the front row, stare at him lovingly, try to send him notes -- basically, they were serial killer groupies. While I knew about this, I've never actually seen or read anything about these people in action. At least, I never have before finding bundycommunity. It's really just utterly fucking amazing. (Just a warning, if you scroll down far enough when you click on the link, there's a really, really nasty picture, which I am going to get into later on in the post.

They call him "Bunnie."

Just the first post is mind-boggling enough. NOT just the fact that he is beautiful, but he's evil. The girl in question named her band after this man. This is mildly tame obsession compared to what some of the other groupies are posting.

One of the other girls, regarding a video of Bundy's final interview she purchased on Ebay: his eyes are the bluest, darkest, most vivid fuckers you will ever see in your life. Another girl, further down in the community. how he could do it so calmly, and how he could diguise himself so well is so cool.

Andrea has a serial killer fetish. Joe is a serial killer addict.

This girl just has all sorts of problems. I'm cutting and pasting a few of the highlights of the thread, because it's just too mindboggling not to see. But then suddenly, a man's voice comes through and it's Ted, and I knew it was Ted and oh god, I just started having a spiritual and psychological orgasm right there... And then, further on, she leaves a bizarre parody of an Edward Gorey poem: OH is for oolah who was ass-raped by ted bundy then bludgeoned to death... (Well. a girl can only wish.) I just don't understand it. I'm not sure whether this is better or worse than the Orlando Bloom fangirls who write about "Orli's" murder and rape.

Either way, it's disturbing. Almost as disturbing as the contents of the post itself are the comments that follow it. 223 writes, "it's great to see people like to see dead bodies. *beam*" akillerswife writes, "I don't know if I am 'fucked in the head' - but I always thought it would be cool to be killed by Bundy. . . Like it was a privilege or something." A PRIVILEGE. It would be a PRIVILEGE to be killed by this man. If anyone can come up with a psychological explanation for this, please, post it.

Here: Does anyone knwo where/how I could find the exact location where some of Bundy's Colorado kills were dumped? I live in Colorado, and would love to go visit the sites. I can find areas, (i.e. "abandoned mineshaft near Berthound Pass") but I want/need the exact location, because that's still pretty vague.

This post and some of the comments after it. This person almost sounds like a boyband fangirl at first -- LOL! OMG! This is fucking cool! I never would have thought there'd be a community for one of my fave serial killers. -- but no! She fangirls a man who raped and killed almost forty women.

They're out in full force here, where jenjoe is just craving to hear Bundy's voice. vengeance chimes in, "AHHHH i want bundy sound thingies!!!!"

I could go on, but it's making me ill. It's just ... mind-boggling.

While there is could be debate about whether or not this is actually wanky, I will put forth the following argument: some of us who are interested in serial killers are sane, rational people, who realise that the killers' acts are heinous and disgusting and wrong, etc etc etc. There people are nutjobs who actually want to be bludgeoned to death by Ted Bundy. That's pretty damn wanky, in my opinion. In all honesty, I can't even begin to imagine why these people are thinking what they're thinking, but after reading all of this, I have to agree with a friend of mine: I keep feeling like my skin is about to crawl off.
