Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Went to Friends of Josh Groban today to see about my odds of winning backstage passes. Didn't find any info on that, but did find wank. As before, I have saved the pages to my own server, so that you may all enjoy it in all its original purity and mindbending multi-coloured signature blockness. Plus it saves me a lot of work cutting and pasting.

Page One
Page Two
Page Three
Page Four
Page Five

Basically, somebody named Jann starts whining about how there's both too much and not enough whining on the messageboard, and how unfair it is that she's never met Josh... or something. And everybody starts arguing about whether OT whining is acceptable behavior, and how much is too much.

I have no idea what half these people are talking about, but I can give you a rundown on some of the bigger debacles. A while back, somebody posted, claiming to be Josh... but it was actually one of his PR people. That incident is referenced a couple of times. And there was some kind of calamity involving a charity concert that had to turn some people away after they sold more tickets than fire safety regulations would allow people in the building.

After page five the wank kind of burns itself out and it turns into a generalized whine thread. But there's some darn good stuff in those first five pages.

Even after all the wank started by his fangirls, I still don't know who Josh Groban is.

All I know is that he sings in like 3 or 4 different languages.

At least, I think he does. I get all these guys confused anymore.

I think he's that guy that's on PBS whenever they're trying to raise money.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's the best summation of his career I've run across so far! He's basically a more classy version of Clay Aiken to me.

I'm surprised the Josh Groban wank queen a.k.a "SurferGirl1300" wasn't replying, she seems to post to all the wanky threads on that board... she also caused trouble on a Josh Groban fan board called "Mi Morena Fan Fiction Archive" back in May. You couldn't post any of her wanky stuff though she's 16.

... I surely hope no one from my country is on that wank. Because if there is, I'm scared imagining what'd happen when Josh comes here this November. x_x;

What the hell is it about this guy that inspires so much crazy devotion and wank? He's all right looking, cute in a clean-cut, curly-haired way, has a nice (though not perfect) singing voice, is personable in front of the camera, has a couple of hit records out, and apparently has a fanbase consisting solely of gushing grannies, fawning fangirls and absolute lunatics.

What is it about this guy that makes all these otherwise ordinary women run mad? Why is he apparently the modern equivalent of Orpheus being chased around by a pack of Ciconian Maenads?

Why does Justin Guarini still inspire wank amongst The Faithful, despite the fact that most of the people I know know who Clay and Kelly are, but not him?

'Tis a mystery of the ages . . .

<wank>

Actually, two of the tracks on his most recent album - Remember When it Rained and Never Let Go - are songs he wrote himself, and they're quite good.

If you're talking about Justin, that's because that's all that the PTB at American Idol would let him do. Thank goodness he broke free from them and he's now working on writing material for a new album.

Because his music speeeeeeeeeeaks to their love-saturated cardiovascular system. Who couldn't resist such soul-searing, introspective, moving lyrics as

"I love you."
"I love you a lot."
"No, really. I love you a whole lot."
"Like this much." (holds out hands very very far apart)
"Like even more than that."
"Like more than my dog, even."
"Did I mention I love you?"
"Because I do."

And then he sings it in French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Bhutanese, Middle Saxon, Hebrew, Swahili and P.Diddy.

Me? I like the goofy faces he makes when he's singing. My mother and I giggle a lot when that happens.

Aren't they more like the Kindly Ones Furies, who hound you to the ends of the Earth for kin-slaying, hound you to the ends of the Earth for speaking ill of the object of their obsession?

Deleterius has its own Not-Bob:

The troll is cryptic and strange as opposed to frothing with righteous anger so I don't know if it qualifies as wanky, but it's been making us laugh.

I don't think I've ever seen a group of people so upbeat about their right to have negative attitudes. I love the post that starts "Three cheers for you and a couple of Hip, Hip Hoorays!" and ends "Now I'm off to the Goth website where I can be sarcastic and be praised for it!" Yeeha!

And there's a very special "WTF?" due to the poster who thinks the comment "Who peed in your cornflakes?" is creative. Um, maybe back when my great-grandma used to post on Errol Flynn message boards...

You will learn if you dare hang out around the Friends of Josh Groban board, that these are "Happy Hugs and Smilies" people out in front but in reality, start catfights at the drop of a hat. Like the recent catfight over people bumping topics, in which nobody was actually saying anything of value (in the bumped threads)... so a "Happy" group decided these members who wished for more content and less vapid chatter were "Meen! and Ebil!"

*rolleyes*
