Just the messenger, shoot the anonymouse ...
Gakked from the anonymouse in the Buffy 'shipper thread, whom, I assume doesn't have thread creation ability.

The SG-1 Fic Awards Are Just Stupid Popularity Contests, OMG!

Contains some classic "I Know You Are, But What Am I?" idiocy debate.

...I'm seeing the fandom shamed and disgraced by this outcome...

I wondered when this would get here...

Joy is quite... outspoken. Bast foolishly tries to be calm and collected.

This years SG Awards are just one big WANK. It's lovely. Orry's fucking telepathic dogs nominated for Best Original Character? How could we *not* wank?! That's like porn for fandomwanking.

To be fair, the slash categories were clearly voted for by dead kittens stuffed with crack and stapled to a mouse and keyboard. Or else everyone else is watching a show where Jack is a guy who'd repeatedly and randomly express his love for Daniel in flowery prose. "I feel... feelings" was my imagination. Jack is verbose and Emotionally Open, obviously. The het ones were less fun for wankery, as the worst that won was just dull and mediocre. Nanda's 'Salvage' should have won everything, dammit. And Salieri in the slash ones. THERE IS NO JUSTICE!

Fic awards are pants. Except the ones I've won.

I think there should be only two categories -- Best Story and Best Author -- and let everyone fight it out.

Social darwinism at its finest!

Why even two? ONE TRUE CATEGORY OMG!

Well, we are talking two different things... the best story may not be done by the best author.

Though you could insist that the Best Author and the Best Story must match up. (You know...even as a spoof, this could happen....)

Or just vote on Best Fan in the Fandom.

Now there's the Wank to End All Wanks for you!

We should just shove everyone into a room and let them fight it out. Sod all the categories, we should just have "Last author standing" award ;)

I thought the show's boring. Movie was okay, though.

Never played Fringeworthy (game it's based on),so I dunno about that.

She was dead serious. Dead, dead, dead serious. Kinda puzzling. Dislikes Sideburns, Pepe and Orrymain and slobbers over DM. The joy of hypocrisy.

Erk, really, how can you like Pepe? Err, I mean, how can you hate Pepe and like DM? Orry... now Orry is at least amusing. Even if she doesn't seem to know it.

*giggles* Well, there is this thing called split personality disorder, or something. So it might be true.

You know, I used to think that once you knew what bad fiction was, you didn't veer of the path. Then I met fandom.

Heck yes! In most fandoms a character being forced to spend several days with another character *doing anything they command you to do* would be called a gift from canon, not yet another something to overlook in favor of OMGanotherteamstory! *grumble grumble*

"Gawd, Jack," Daniel said softly, melting with the words.

*hurl*

Major. Pet. Peeve. If the speaking character does not have an accent, the spelling is G O D. If the author has a problem spelling out God, then pick a different interjection.

My question is... how many times does Daniel say "God/Gawd/Goddess" on the show? I can only think of one instance where it *might* have happened... 'One False Step' maybe? Other than that, I can't think of a time were Daniel would say, "God, Jack" or "God, this sucks." or whatever.
Yet you'll find fics, where each and every sentence that comes from Daniel starts off with "God,..."

Also, characters with accents? Every word a character says does not have to be spelled phonetically. It's annoying.

Unless it's Trainspotting, where it just makes it trippier.
