But he CAN'T do that! The board is the one thing keeping him sane! Or the cause of all his distress... I'm confused.

I'll add that when a mod starts talking about 'medication not working' it's time to either close the board or find a new mod.

I love being told I'm "mucking around." Rather than ignore the thread as would be sad to do, it would be best to crash it as hard as possible. And it isn't as though he left many options.
