A small plagiarism wank for an old fandom
Laurellover has been posting stories to a small fanfic community, The L_Word, and receiving lots of praise for her writing efforts. A reader notices that a story is similar to one she read in the X-files fandom. Too similar.

This reader, Toriweber, informs the X-F BOFQ's of XF fandom of her suspicions.

Said BOFQs find out that every story is plagiarized and a feeding frenzy ensues:

OMG YOU PLAGIARIZED TEH SACRED FANFICS

The Lword is bombarded with comments. Comments are at the bottom of the page after the story.

One story was obviously written for a male and female pair, but the newbie forgot to remove the 'male' traits such as 'broad shoulders' and 'under the
dark shadow of a full day's growth'. Fangirl makes lame excuses for this obvious oversight.

Conspiracy theories abound that this may not be a simple case of
plagiarism because this is the X-Files fandom afterall.

Fangirl plagiarizer has yet to show and defend herself.

Too bad she doesn't live in Renaissance England in the sixteenth century. Then she'd be okay. ;)

Ugh...the excuses she made for the woman in the story having facial hair was so painfully...lame. I mean- damn, that hurt.

It was a metaphor!

Personally I liked all the people who commented saying, "I liked the fic, but what was with the facial hair?"

Many have asked for sequals to my other stories. I will try, but a lot of times I write them and leave the rest to your imagination...

And because the original author didn't write a sequel to these fics I stole, damn them!

And here's another good one ...

Author's Note: Thank you to everyone for your great comments. I'm glad I can bring a smile or horniness to your life, lol. I do actually write for a living, and have a lesbian novel in the works right now, so thank you for the compliments :)

Uh-oh. Look out pro writers! Wonder which novel she'd planned on stealing from for that? "Wuthering Heights", maybe?

*wishing one could actually cut n' paste for a living*

Interesting case of someone starting to believe their own fake press.

I am not too overly fond of X-Files so even if I read the stories my reaction would be "Buh?" --- but plagiarwank is always fun so I'll stay tuned. This looks like it could get splurty.

When did we start feeling sorry for plagiarists? I think "laurellover" deserves every beating she takes.

The Haven, however, will never stop being a source of unending wank.

Thank God.

Dude, I am baffled and confused when I find people stealing fanfic. I mean, really...it's not even like you're making money off of it! It's a writing medium for fun and enjoyment, so what's the point of taking out the work that makes it fun and enjoyable?

...people are stupid.

the only reason I can think of is because they want adoration and fanluuuuuv, to become a BNF. So if you take something that was successful in one fandom and move it to another fandom...

Seems like our little plagiarist isn't quite bright enough to realise that most fen either jump fandoms on a regular basis, or are often multi-fandom.
